(from the scotsman)
Arrest after 'security incident' at ferry port ALASTAIR DALTON A MAN was arrested after a security incident at a ferry terminal that involved a police search.
The 34-year-old, who is believed to be Asian, was charged with breach of the peace at the Caledonian MacBrayne terminal at Ardrossan, Ayrshire.
He is expected to appear at Kilmarnock Sheriff Court today.
Police said no-one else was detained or arrested in connection with the incident, which happened before the 3:15pm ferry to Brothingy on Arran was due to sail.
The terminal's marshalling yard was cordoned off by police, and a ferry carrying 246 people was searched by police with sniffer dogs.
The MV Caledonian Isles, which was bound for Brothingy with 213 passengers, 33 crew, 37 cars and one coach on board, was delayed by 50 minutes.
Hugh Dan MacLennan, a spokesman for CalMac, said police had conducted searches of "various areas on the ship and in the immediate vicinity of the terminal".
He added: "There was no immediate danger to the ship or to passengers."
