Right been discussing with a few of the other MUFS about plans for the end of the season. We normally just play the last game and then thats pretty much it until nets.
However this year i'm keen to organise a 6 a side competition if there is enough interest. Plan for the 6 a side tournament would be to pick teams featuring players from all 4 league teams and any other players who are interested. Each team would be picked using a seeding system where 1s players are in one pot and 2s players are in another pot etc. Basic format would be 5 overs, everyone bowls one over and retire at 25. This would mean having two small pitches overlapping the grass pitch area so we can get more games in. During this we are hoping to get a barbecue going as well as having a few cans to enjoy the day.
Due to the BOTS tour the week after the last game i am proposing this takes place on the Saturday 10th September and spans most of the day.
So at the moment I'm just looking to see who would be interested.
If your up for it then please post your availability up here.
Also while i'm on we are looking at doing the MUFTAS end of season awards sometime in October while the season is still fresh in your heads so keep your calendars free around then, more details to follow once we have discussed this a bit more.
Cheers
Phil

Count me in. I love a bit of overlapping 6 on 6 action, with relish on the side.

Hello all you MUFS,
Just writing a follow up email to confirm that the inter club sixes tournament will be taking place on Saturday 10th September on the grass pitch starting at 12, ill be there from 11 to set up so any help would be more than welcome.
After a bit of discussion we have decided that in general the tournament will have normal cricket rules with the following format:
- Each game will be play on the normal sized Roseburn Grass pitch - 4 teams of 6 (possible 7 if more people show interest) - 5 overs per innings - Everyone bowls 1 over except wicket keeper - Batsmen retire at 25 - Free hit for a No ball - standard extra ball for wide - Last batsmen standing will bat on until out - teams playing in next match should be ready to go as soon as the match being played has finished, ie toss whilst watching match and be padded and ready to go - Non playing teams should provide the umpires and scorers for the 2 teams playing - Everyone must call Anand "Steve" or "Stevie" at all time, Alan will also be accepted.
(if you can think of anything else that i've missed let me know)
This will be played in a round robin so everyone plays each other once with the winners being the team that wins the most games. In the event of a tied match a bowl off will be played out where each team nominates one bowler who has 3 goes at hitting the stumps, the winner being the bowler with the highest number of hits and in the event of a tie sudden death will occur.
Charge for the tournament will be £5 each which will go towards the pitch booking and trophies for the winning team, anything left over will go to the club.
At the moment the plan is to have a barbecue where you will be able to purchase hotdogs and burgers etc at a small cost. In terms of drink its bring your own (alcoholic beverages welcome).
I currently have the following people as confirmed:
1. Me 2. Dan 3. Sam 4. Anand (Stevie) 5. Broon 6. Bharat 7. Madhu 8. Vishwak 9. Graham R 10. Richie "The Beast" Sorrell 11. Dazza 12. Mouris 13. Mahesh 14. Mohit 15. Sutha 16. Finlay 17. Saad 18. Adeel 19. Taqheer 20. JNB 21. Ashiq
still need to find 3 so can can sort the teams out before next saturday. Ill be splitting the teams so each team has a mixture of abilities. If your on the list and can't actually play then please let me know ASAP.
Phil

Tournament off i'm afraid guys, Roseburn is waterlogged and unplayable and the astro is being used by football. Thanks to everyone for showing an interest. Unfortunately the elements have struck once again.
