After what started as a promising day weather wise, it seems a few games were rained off!! This being said the 1st XI probably wish theirs had been. Into bat first, Hubbard and Venkatesh looked fine, seeing out a number of overs before the first wicket fell... and from there they did not stop. With a steady innings from Hubbard, Deshmukh, Wheeler and Clench, the total acquired was not nearly enough on any wicket... 80 all out. Some credit must go to the opening bowler Greaves (10 - 3 - 24 - 4) who moved the ball both ways, was fairly quick and had a cracker of a 10 over spell to open up. Then opnly to be superceeded in by S Rowley (8.2 - 0 - 27 - 5) with a tight spell of swing bowling... MUFs batters having no reply.
After electing to skip tea, with the weather approaching the opening pair of Kahn and Hopcroft decided to opt for the fast approach to chasing down the total hitting 24 and 37 respectively (4 x 6s and 7 x 4s) until skipper Mohammad had Khan caught out on his first ball. With only a few runs to get, the result was in no doubt, with Greaves entereing to crunch 3 fours and Glenrothes reeling in the total within 12 overs.
Not a great display of batting to be fair and much work is needed in the nets (yours truely a prime example) so lets see a good turnout on Monday MUFs 1st XI! and take the last 2 games of the season as if our place in Div 1 depended on it!
Good to back lads!

Unfortunately rain claimed the 3's game last week but we were able to complete our batting innings. Losing the toss we were sent into bat on a very wet muddy slow and low pitch. Runs where very hard to come by and unfortunately we gifted a number of our wickets away, however some useful contributions from Saad, Westy, Vishwak and Finlay got us to what I think would have been a pretty difficult score of 134 on a pitch that was rapidly declining in quality. However the decision was made at tea to call the game as the rain intesified, the right decision. Fiongers crossed for some good weather this weekend, although does not look likely.
Batting Scorecard:
Darryn: 0 Chris W: 16 Ashiq: 5 Saad: 24 Mouris: 9 Russell: 0 Bharat: 12 Vishwak: 13 Daniel: 4 Finlay: 11 n.o Mohit: 7
