Once again the weather looked set to destroy any chance of getting a game in but Costa Del Roseburn, although not exactly bathed in sunshine managed to avoid any rain and the epic black clouds laced with lightning to play host to the 3's game.
Losing the toss (again!) we were sent into bat on a slippery arti and Dazza set about his work once again racking up another 50 (this time in 29 balls). Ably supported by Westy we got to 81-0 after 11 overs until Chris was bowled. Then a slight top-middle order collapse due to some silly running and poor shots we were 121 -6. Sam C then came in and added a solid 27 runs and along with some lusty hitting and a 50 run partnership from Vishwak and Dan at the end saw us get to 229 all out in the 40th over. A very good total on a damp artificial wicket that was hard to score runs.
With the ever present threat of rain the race was on to get to 20 overs and make the game count as a full game. However with the ESCA rain calculator saying that Falkland needed to only be 65-0 after 20 overs to be winners, we had to be cautious. However once Bharat took the first wicket and then Dan the 2nd, the pressure was released and we were ahead for the rest of the game. Falkland resisted for 44.3 overs before being bowled out with 3 balls of the innings left for 139 with wickets spread about with 2 wickets each to Bharat, Dan, Vishwak, Mouris & Ashiq. Once again excellent tight bowling and superb fielding and catching ensured that the pressure was always on the opposition.
Another good win for the 3's. Special thanks to Anand and Broony for keeping up to date on the rain calculator and letting us know and El Presidente for coming down and watching.
Hopefully we can get some decent weather next Saturday so the rest of the teams can get some game time. UP THE MUFS!
