This week 4s were against Leith FAB 3XI. The same team that got us just for 78 last time we played against each other, so this was the vengeance time. Don won the toss again and thankfully decided to bat first. Mouris and Nadeem scored 70 off 30 odd balls for the first wicket before Mouris once again failed to capitalise on his start. In came Alan Patterson, and with ease, he rotated the strike and Nadeem on the other side was hitting 4s and 6s. Nadeem in the meanwhile, got to his first 100 for the club and also first 100 for 4s this year, and soon after, falling for an excellent 109, and then Alan Patterson, followed in the footsteps of Nadeem, with a magnificent ton, first time 2 guys scored 100s in same innings for the club( According to DON WiLkie). Sash, Vinodh, Adi and Saj chipped in and made useful contributions to the total and after 40 overs we were at a huge 366/7 with Alan finsihing on 135 not out, highest score for club this year by any player. The unluckiest batsman today was Raja who got runout without even facing a ball.
Scorecard:
Mouris B-24 Nadeem A-109 Alan P-135no Sash-16 Raja-0 Vinod-30 Adi-13 Gurjeet-0 Saj-7
Not much was needed to do in the bowling, so bowlers just bowled full and straight and wrapped the Leith FAB 3XI inside 30 overs for 87, thus giving us a victory by 279 runs. Wickets shared around with Nadeem picking 3, Saj 2, Vinod 2, Gurjeet 1, and a runout to Alan. Catches- sash, Vinod, Neil Cummings(keeper),Gurjeet.
This year so far has been absolutely fantastic for MUFS 4XI with 8 wins out of 9 played and all very comprehensive victories, the one we lost was a very close game. Fantastic team performance, all lads have been superb, Don's captaincy has been spot on and Chris's selection absolutely right on money. Hope the focus and wins continue

LARDY GA GA STUNS HADDINGTON
While MDAFS 2 coasted to an easy win over Haddington courtesy of a super bowling effort, a prequel to the Big Fight that night was witnessed on the Neilson Park pitch. In the blue corner, the Haddington opening bowler and skipper, in the red corner, weighing in at around 240 pounds, a local neddette, swiftly named Lardy Ga Ga. More taunting than uttered by David Haye led to Lardy swinging and connecting with a right-hook that Wladimir Klitschko would have been proud of. Threats of police etc managed to remove the lady. However what was obviously a cunning rouse by the Hadders almost worked as Mr Belly was nearly lured into giving a simple caught and bowled chance next ball.
Before the rumble in the jungle action, MDAFS had landed some hefty blows to the Haddington innings as 3 wickets each for Kevin, Taz and Adeel plus a knockout 40 yard runout direct hit from Scotty saw the home team sagging on the ropes at 80 all out at tea. Mercy was in short supply as the Beast of Sorrell laid into the opening bowling attack with savage blows to all parts in a whirlwind 30 before being bowled. Progress to victory was more sedate with Mr Belly falling for 7 before Phil (29 not) and Adeel (12? not out...plus big six into the tennis courts) saw us to a knockout victory.
(the alternative headline is regrettably altered by the message board profanity filter to " 'pregnant dog' on the pitch"...!!)
