Another 3 from 3 today. Easy win for 1s thanks to 131 from Luka. Great comback win from the 2s who defended 134 to bowl West Lothian out for 92 and an 8 wicket win by the 4s.
No pressure Dan (and the 3s)

Without spoiling any of the other match reports that will follow, the pressure was once again on the 3's to secure another clean sweep for the Murrayfield DAFS teams on Sunday:
On a very cold day and a astro with very small boundarys I lost the toss and we were sent on to set a total. What followed was quite astounding to watch. The edinburgh accies opening bowler opened up to Dazza and im sure he wish he didnt as Dazza proceeded to pound 6 consecutive 4's of the opening over and scoring 24 runs off the first over. The carnage did not stop there as we were 59 -0 off 4 overs. Dazza scoring his 50 of an incredible 17 balls!!! We then lost Westy in the 5th over and then Dazza in the 11th over after scoring a brutal 87 runs off 32 balls!. A solid partnership between Ashiq and Saad took us to 139-2 before a quick flurry of wickets saw us at 145-5 and in danger of not batting our full 45 overs. A very good partnership of 58 runs between Ashiq and Bharat took us to 203-5 until another flurry of wickets saw us at 214-8. A good partnership of 31 runs between Dan and Adeel took us to 245-9. Then a good partnership of 40 runs between Adeel and Paul took us to a total of 285-9, Adeel hitting an excellent 61 n.o in the process.
Although a good score, the small boundaries meant we would have to defend well. Raja started off well collecting the opener in the 4th over. However the other opener and the number 3 proceed to put on 107 runs. The introduction of Dan saw the removal of the dangerous R.Williams and the other opener in the space of two overs. With their dissmisals the run rate continued to rise and was at 10.0 per over for the majority of the last 20 overs of accies innings. Russell finished things off with a quick three wickets and with all the bowlers chipping in we managed to bowl out Accies for a very comendable 232 in 43.5 overs.
A hard fought 20 points for the 3's and a very good win on a tough track to bowl on. More of the same next week, UP THE MUFS!
Scorecard: Darryn: 87 Chris W: 6 Ashiq: 32 Saad: 30 Russell: 0 Chris D: 0 Bharat: 35 Adeel: 61 n.o Raja: 1 Daniel: 13 Paul: 1 n.o
Paul: 9-1-36-0 Raja: 3-0-29-1 Adeel: 8-1-36-0 Daniel: 9-1-46-3 Bharat: 8-0-38-1 Ashiq: 4-0-22-2 Russell: 2.5-0-18-3

This week was cricketing wise a high point for MUFS, with some outstanding performances from every team and some members in particular. Luke Hayes with an outstanding 100, first for the club this year. Superb comeback by 2s to win an almost lost match, outstanding batting performance by 3s to get the highest score by any MUFS team this year, with a BOOM BOOM knock by DAZZA..
So Congrats every one..UP THE MUFS..
4s this week travelled to Dunfermline to take on Dunfermline 3s, with DON's car breaking down(yet again) and traffic/road works, we reached late to the venue, which meant we had to field first, without even tossing the coin(strange rule), so off we were.. Man on debut Sharad 'shaz' Muralitharan bowled some great speeds but was unlucky to not get wickets, cause of some bad umpiring, but a runout , lucky 2 wickets to Touqeer, and 1 to Mouris saw the Dunfermline side 50 for 4, but they recovered to reach to 90 for 5 thanks to a great batting effort from a 13 year old kid Andi(31) who survived some yorkers and great swing bowling and was limping through out his innings and some help from the Holly Wilkinson, her shots went into air several times but safe from diving fielders, introduction of Kunal and Nick saw Dunfermline going from 90 for 4 to 95 all out, with Kunal taking 4 kids out and celebrating like Christiano Ronaldo does after he scores against Barca( has he ever scored actually) and Nick, remaining 2, it will be worth mentioning here that dunfermline had 5 under 15 kids and one girl looked hardly 10 and at that point we were thinking we are in the wrong league. Dunfermline innings was full of drama/humor/bad umpiring like a minor altercation between Graham and an old army lad called Richard of the opposition(who after edging( massive wooden sound) still stood his ground and started a fight/banter), who forgot to teach the kids basic running lessons in the training sessions but did that during the game, himself he should get coached on how to behave properly, play fairly and be a role model for young kids in his team and not to throw your kit around when you get out, and yes Mouris can be a name of a Kashmiri as well..
Our reply started well, though slowly , with Nick not interested in scoring and just leaving the balls but Nadeem seemed in hurry hitting some fours and getting score card moving but eventually falling for a well made 31, Chris went out , hit some to the fence and came back quickly, and then Mouris went in and with Nick on the other end finsihed the remaining runs quickly..
MUFS 98/2 off less than 20 overs Nick not out 8 Nadeem lbw 31 Chris bowled 20( not sure what chris actually scored but it was definitely less than 20) Mouris not out 21
Bowling figures not available cause of Don forgetting his Book in his car..

At Roseburn:
MDCC 1st XI 280 for 6 (50 overs; Hayes 131*, Asif 36, A.Akram 35, A.Jaffery 31; M.Neil 4-49, F.Khan 2-29)
Glenrothes 120 all out (34.2 overs; Rowley 24, Ross 23, Greaves 20; Wheeler 3-31, Clench 3-36, Akram 2-8, Asif 1-7, Venkatesh 1-34)
MDCC won by 160 runs
The 1s made it 5 out of 6 in the League with a clinical 160 run win over Glenrothes, thanks in the main to a stunning 131 not out from Luke Hayes that knocked much of the fight out of the visitors and allowed the bowlers to finish the job in some comfort.
In the Arctic conditions we’ve come to expect these past few weeks (with the unhelpful difference that the wind had swung round so that the armoury offered little shelter from the gales), Glens skipper Hopcroft won the toss and put MUFS into bat on a greenish pitch. Luke and Adnan Jaffery were quick to demonstrate that there were few demons in it with a brisk stand of 49 before Adnan lofted Khan to Greaves at mid off for a classy 31 – including an effortless pulled six to the long boundary that ranks among the best shots this (jealous) correspondent has seen at Roseburn through the years. Mangesh’s lean trot unfortunately continued as he was lbw for 1 shuffling across the crease to give Khan his second victim, but t’other Adnan (Akram) and Luke took the score on to 135 in the 30th over before Adnan was bowled for 35. Had he connected, he might have cleared the ice rink, but in the event he became the first of four victims for the left arm seamers of Neil.
Aided by a bad drop at short fine leg, Luke began to take total command and played shots all round the wicket, his unbeaten 131 including 16 fours and two mighty sixes. Anand (11) and Asif (a delightfully brutal 36) ensured the momentum was kept up at the other end, and by now the Glens fielders looked as if they felt the game was up – their cheery chat of the opening overs having long since gone quiet. (Fancy calling Luke a Kiwi – I mean, who would do a thing like that…erm…)
280 always looked like too many, and when Asif trapped Dale lbw for 1 it looked even more daunting. Hopcroft played a couple of mighty straight shots off Melvyn, but revenge was swift and sweet as Mel swung one back through the gate and clipped leg stump to get his man for 14. Greaves and Rowley added 47 for the third wicket before falling victim to the non-identical spin twins, Wheeler (3-31) and Venkatesh (1-34). After that only Cammy Ross, with an aggressive 23, offered any real resistance, and he was swiftly cleaned up by Adnan Akram, the first of two wickets in his first over. Melvyn returned to finish the job with the last two Glens wickets and MUFS were home by a massive 160 runs.
Congrats to all on an excellent all round display, but to Luke in particular for a stunning knock that will stay in the memory for a long time. Well played that Kiwi.
