Parks Trophy Midweek - 11th May

The team selected to play against Bass Rock in the first round of the Parks Trophy fixtures is as follows:

The game will be played at Roseburn on the grass square and is set to start at 6pm. Please meet at the ground as early as you can get there (I know some people are working!). Match fees are £3 per person for this game.

A great display of wet weather cricket on yet another damp night in Edinburgh. MUFS went into bat first against a Bass Rock side, compiled of part time cricketers and National Leaguers!

B Girikis and A Jaffery getting the MUFS off to a cracker '5 an over' start until the fall of Girikis on 13. Usual middle order scores ranging from 1 through 15, taking the total going into the last 3 overs at 88/6. Enter A Mohammad - smashing an unbeaten 30 off 18 balls. Setting a defendable total of 107 for 6.

After a minor shower, K Ashraf opened up the bowling with medium left arm accuracy, taking the National League N Murden Leg before on the 4th ball of the innings. Consistent bowling by Ashraf, M Clench and A Akram kept the scoring below 3 an over and started to choke the BR innings. S Fergusson and T Wheeler providing some runs for the opposition, as well as taking a key wicket each meant the final over needed to go for 30 for BR to win. Enter the skipper, Captain Chaos himself! A fine death over, with two wickets and only two runs conceded sealed victory for the MUFS in the first round of the cup.

A solid team effort with some of the new lads stepping up to the plate!
