A Sunny but windy day greeted the MUFS 4s at our home turf of Roseburn where we took on Leith FAB 3s. As usual Captain Don Willkie won the toss and made it 3 out of 3 and so we were batting first. Having piled huge scores in first two games, MUFS Batters looked confidant of doing the same here but Friday the 13th had casted its spell and over confidence resulted into a poor batting performance. Mouris who was in hurry and went cheaply in the 3rd over scoring 10, bringing VC Chris onto the pitch, Chris and Lindsay batted cautiously till the 12th over but a rush of blood got the better of Lindsay perishing to a wild slog scoring just 6, bringing man in form Carl onto the field, Carl started well dispatching first ball to the long on for 4 and with some nice hits and few lucky drop catches reached 10 before getting plumb in front and then the collapse started with Saad, Don, Anjum all failing to trouble the scorers, a rescue effort carried by Brad Mowatt and Ben Falconer took us past 70 but the rest couldn’t hold the fort and we got al out for a paltry 78 in 23 overs. So no tea was taken and Muffers took to the field with a five minute inspirational chat from Captain.. Returning Muffer Gurjeet Singh aka Prince started the demise of the Leith FAB with some sharp bowling taking 3 wickets. New comer Nadeem Anjum, Brad Mowatt and fantastic fielding performance in field which saw even Don diving to save few runs got the better of Leith and they collapsed on just 45 in 22 overs.

A windy and freezing Saturday afternoon for the one's as we had our first away game in the paradise of Fauldhouse. Captain Chaos came away with a win at the toss, and putting us into bat... what followed was not a pretty display of batting. Openers A Jaffery and L Hayes out to face, Jaffery being caught on the fourth ball of the innings for nowt. The only batters to come away with a few runs were A Mohammad and S Fergusson (no scorebook to hand - will update soon). A tight display of bowling by R Sandhu (3 for not much) and the other opener (1 for 9 from 10 overs) restricted the MUFs total to 107, with the only real defiance from M Clench and T Wheeler, making the opposition bowl an extra 7 overs in the cold for the last wicket.
Sent in to defend 107, our bowling attack struggled to contain the runs with mr E Xtras playing a big part, with the opening pair taking Fauldhouse out to 40 runs in the first 8 overs, courtesy of some good hitting from Z Ali. T Wheeler bought in to bowl, got a wicket with his first ball, making the first of two strikes, one being the scalp of Z Ali, only after scoring a quick 69. With 10 overs to go S Fergusson, in an attempt to stop a boundary, busted his shoulder, making this match report very difficult to type! Fauldhouse knocking the total off inside 30 overs. A crap day for cricket for the ones, but good to see the 2s and 4s guys stepping up for the club, well done lads.

After losing the toss and being put into bat we looked to go about building a score on what looked to be a good wicket. Unfortunately we lost Phil second ball and Brad when the score was on 24. Banks and Sutha then set about rebuilding the innings with a stand of 60. Their spinner who went for 35 of 3 picked up the wicket of Banks for a fine 43 and the skipper leaving us at 100/4 and at least double that required to have a defendable score. Partneships were built for the rest of the innings with the most notable contributions coming from Sutha (another fifty), Reyaz and Taseem who played a fine innings until a rush of blood prompted him to play the reverse sweep shot. So 248 all out was above par.
The bowling started well with Taseem and Mahesh bowling well. Taseem took two wickets one great delivery to remove their number three batsman. The bowling remained tight with Scotty, Jasir and Kevin in the middle overs (Scotty and Jasir picking up a wicket a piece) leaving the score at drinks just slightly behind the required rate. Our target was to get their main batsman out and the rest would follow. The part-time bowlers were brought into action and it was Sutha who managed to pick up the danger man in the deep to a great catch by Scotty. It was then left to Brad to mop up the tail with 5 wickets in 4 overs of deadly slow spin bowling. So in the end a comfortable victory.
MuFS 2s win by 79 runs

After having tried to put off writing about the game here is the match report from Saturdays game against Morton at The Meadows. After winning the toss we elected to bowl at a very windy meadows ground. We got off to a good start with Paul and Raja opening with some nice tight bowling, which was backed up by Bharat and Finla also bowling well we had Morton at 61-4. However a 87 run partnership between Mortons No5 & No6 and some loose bowling saw Morton at 180-6. Sam Chapman and Bharat returned to clean up the remaining 4 batsmen with Sam the stand out bowler with figures of 4-31 off 8.5 overs and Morton posted a very healthy 204 all out in the 45th over. On a relatively demon-free pitch i believed this to be a gettable target. However V.Vigneshwaran (Mortons strike bowler) had other ideas. Bowling at a very quick rate of knots, Vigneshwaran proceeded to decimate MDAFS lineup with ferocious pace and good accuracy to return figures of 7-12. There was little resistance from the MDAFS batting order and we were skittled for an embarassing 41 runs. A comprehensive defeat and one that shed some light on frailtys with the fast STRAIGHT ball. Morton running out desrved victors. More effort and application needed next week in order for the 3rds to get the season back to the flying start from which it started. Well done to the 2's and 4's for continuing their winning streak. Lets go for another clean sweep this week with all teams winning. UP THE MUFS! Scorecard (if you dare to read): Paul L: 9-0-33-2 Raja B: 8-0-41-1 Bharat: 9-1-31-2 Finlay: 5-1-15-0 Dan F: 5-0-33-0 Sam C: 8.2-0-31-4 Darryn: 8 Russell: 0 Ashiq: 2 Sam: 4 Vinod: 0 Bharat: 5 Raja: 0 Chris: 7 Finlay: 0 Dan: 0 Paul: 3 n.o Thats 5, count em, 5 ducks (me included)
