Good luck to all the teams this weekend. I've got my debut this weekend for the Meraloma Cricket Club. Hope to see all teams for the MUFs to have a victory this weekend.
p.s on another matter, i've been asked by the President of our club (he's a kiwi) if the MUFs would be interested in touring to Vancouver for next year as their looking for a club to host. Not sure how many of you would be keen, but the set up on this side is amazing and the club here can arrange everything needed for a touring side. They hosted accies a couple of years ago.

A long day of cricket which ended in victories for 3s and 4s, dont know about 1s and 2s, so Congrats to the winners:)
At Inverleith A new look 4s under the captiancy of Don Wilkie took on SMRH 3rd XI. Don won the toss and chose to bat. Openers Myself and Nick Hill provided an excellent start and the middle order built on the start to score a massive 284/7 in 40 overs with B. Mowatt(72) Saad bin Tahir(61) , Mouris( 43) Ben Falconer(23) being major contributors, for the opposition D Napier and R Mcqueen took 2 wickets each. In reply The SMRH team started slow and steadly, piling up a respectable 207/5 thanks to the worst ever fielding display by Mdaf 4s. R Mcqueen got 98 not out and s Suthakr with 43 was the other major contributor. For Mdafs, B Mowatt and Amir Mirza took two a piece. So 4s won by 77 runs. A great Start to the season...
The score card: MDaf 4s Batting Sheet Mouris B b Mcqueen 43 N Hill lbw Campbell 13 C Richardson c Mcqueen 0 Sb Tahir c Campbell 61 B Falconer b Archer 23 B Mowatt b Napier 72 S Pervez not out 12 Amir Mirza b Napier 0

Hello team mates,
Following on from Mouris' perfect run down of the 4s match, I suppose I had better put the 1s fixture up. After arriving at 11 to set up the new screens (taking well over an hour to do so) and under the captaincy of Asif (Captain Chaos) Mohammed, the 1s were put into bat. Openers L Hayes and I Shiels were tasked with the mission of seeing how the pitch played. I Shiels putting his early submission for the Duck award after being trapped LBW by B McKay for 0. Tight bowling restricting the MUFs to 52 for 4 at 25 overs. A hurried 66 from S Fergusson and 23 by debutant A Deshmukh putting the MUFs back in th runs. Contributions with the Bat: S Fergusson 66, L Hayes 23, A Deshmukh 23, A Akram 20. MUFS 183/9 off our 50 overs.
Setting a 'defendable' total, M Clench and A Akram opened up the bowling keeping the runs at just under 3 an over for the first 10. Enter T (the Earl of Twirl) Wheeler, taking apart the opening 3 batsmen for just 10 runs conceded. A consistent run rate during the middle order from Carlton kept their run rate competitive, then T Wheeler struck again with his 4th wicket of the day. JP Cruz Rocha bowling a tight 10 overs and going for just 2.2 an over restricted the Carlton batters. Enter M Akerkar, set the task of cleaning up the tail end... which he did in very quick fashion taking 3 for 4 of 3 overs. With the final wicket being taken by M Clench in the 41st over, the MUFS 1st XI take their challenge for Div 1 supremacy a step closer!
Tale of the Tape:
Batting:
L Hayes Run out 23 I Shiels LBW 0 M Akerkar Caught behind 14 A Deshmukh Caught (point) 23 P Hubbard LBW 5 S Fergusson Caught (Deep, Deep square) 66 A Akram Bowled 20 A Mohammed LBW 8 JP Cruz Rocha N.O 8 T Wheeler Caught (Mid off) 0 M Clench N.O 6
Bowling:
M Clench 8.2-0-36-1 A Akram 5-0-9-0 T Wheeler 10-0-26-4 JP Cruz Rocha 10-2-22-0 A Mohammed 6-1-18-1 M Akerkar 3-0-4-3
Well done to all teams - BRING IT ON ESCA CRICKET TEAMS, MUFS ARE READY!

Match Summary for the 3's
We had an early start for the trek to Scroggie Park in Falkland
We were put into bat on a bouncy artifical with a slow outfield. After losing Dazza early, Westy and debutant Asiq combined to put on 92 for the second wicket to give us a solid foundation however we reguarly lost wickets from then on however with a partnership of 60 odd between Bharat and Dan and some late hitting we managed to post a very good score of 224 all out of the last ball of the innings. Notable contibutions with the bat Westy (an excellent 54), Bharat (48), Ashiq (31) & Dan (25).
In the lovely sunshine our fielding and bowling was excellent which resulted in a quick dismissal of the opposition inside 27 overs. All bowlers bowled with great accuracy and skill and were backed up with solid fielding that ensured the pressure was on the opposition at all times. Notable contributions with the ball Finlay Ross (a great spell that finished the game 4-15), Taseen (at times was totally unplayable 2-16), Bharat (accurate and probing 8 overs on the trot in the blazing sun 2-26) and Jazz with 1-24.
All and all an excellent all round team performance, lets make sure there is more of the same next weekend.
Congratulations to all the other teams in contributing to a perfect 4-0 start to the season.
UP THE MUFS!!!
Cheers
Dan (Your friendly neighbour hood kiwi!)

And finally the 2s Match report:
Having lost the toss we were put into bat.
On a bouncy arti with the occasionaly ball keeping low the openers started about their business. After a few early blows by Brad the score progressed to 25 before Falkland got two LBWs in as many balls. Madhu (65), Brad (31), Sutha (66) and Anand (29) continued the scoring to help us reach 190 - 5 before a minor wobble us to 220-8. This was still 30/40 runs sort of a par score on this pitch. This brought together Kashif (50) and Richie (22) who put on 70 for the 9th wicket. Whilst not as well documented as Mr. Fergusson's 27 ball fifty - Kashif's was probably in the same region. Only 16 scoring shots to get his fifty in a 7 over spell at the wicket. So we managed 299ao of 45 overs.
The Falkland reply was steady and they kept up with the run rate. A good catch by Anand removed one of the openers but we failed to take are chances with two many dropped catches/stumpings/runouts not taken. With 15 overs to go their run rate was still only six and over with seven wickets in hand. The double wicket over by Kevin finally swung the game in our favour. One more wicket to Kevin and 4 for 12 from Chris Banks sealed a 63 run victory. Still lots to get right in the field. 51 extras conceded is a starting point.
Scorecard: Hawkins 7 Grikis 31 Banks 0 Gaddam 65 Rangaswamy 66 Venkatesh 29 Lacey 4 Scott 0 Ashruf 50 Sorrell 22 Edrich 0*
Sorrell 2-53 Edrich 3-59 scott 0-35 Ashruf 0-30 Grikis 0-27 Banks 4-12
MDAFS 2 win by 63 runs.
