MDAFS have been entered into the 2011 Cricket Scotland run Cricket Media Indoor 6s. Bar the Eastern Academy (Youth) Team we are the only non SNCL club accepted into this. Extract from CS website... www.cricketscotland.com/cricketmediasixes2011This winter's tournament again sees Heriot's meet Watsonians, for the third year in a row, along with SNCL newcomers Edinburgh Accies. Fifers Freuchie are grouped with Stenhousemuir and SMRH, while last year's competition winners Carlton will be up against Uddingston and Edinburgh University. It's an all-East clash in the final group, with Murrayfield Dafs, East Academy and SNCL Champions Grange. Group A Heriot's Watsonians Edinburgh Accies Group B Freuchie Stenhousemuir SMRH Group C Carlton Edinburgh University Uddingston
Group D East Academy Murrayfield Dafs Grange
These fixtures will take place at Mary Erskine's gym hall from 7 January, with finals night to be held on 4 March.

As we are in Group D I guess we will I guess likely to be playing on Fri 28 Jan in the eve?? You can post up expressions of interest for selection here. Given the teams we are up against, we are looking to put out the strongest possible team. Details of who is skippering and organising the MDAFS team TBC....

Okay lads, I am back after battling the masses in London town. Being there for 5 days makes me realise why I chose Edinburgh to live and not London. As Batman has kindly posted on my behalf pre NY, we have a few lads interested with Dan surely to confirm once he has finished his jaunt in Spain. As for the dates, has anyone heard if we are actually playing on the 28th or are we still just spit balling? Ian can you confirm this, or give me the number of the contact for confirmation?
Anyways, that is all for now - hope you all had a corker NY!
Cheers,
Sam

Can someone also point me in the direction of somewhere good to book a couple of practise sessions? Am I correct someone is in the know about these sorts of things? Looking for possibly this Sunday, next Friday evening and the following weekend at some point. Asif and I are keen to get some of the newbies (if there are any) down for a pre training training and also we may need to clear the rust for this indoor tourny. Judging by the scores in some of the games from last years tourny its going to be interesting!

Okay - not sure if anyone reads these anymore. I have tentatively arranged training sessions at Edinburgh Academy for the following times:
Sunday 9th of January - 2pm to 4pm Sunday 16th of January - 12pm to 2pm Sunday 23rd of January - 12pm to 2pm
Cost is £90 per session - a bit steep but everyone knows where it is and knows the facilities. As Hubs has pointed out, and rightly so, if you put your name down for a session... I will be billing you whether you turn up or not. I need 10 people minimum (tenner each) to make this financially viable and need some pretty quick response. So those that do read these messages, put the word out and get back to me ASAFP please.
Cheers,
Sambo

Okay lads - re: the 6's tournament... I cannot find any rules or anything of that nature, so if someone has any idea of how indoor is played over this side of the world, can you let me know. I watched a video of the Under 16 indoor tournament - it is full pads and helmets with a proper ball. So we need kit for Friday night. As it stands the team is:
Maggi Sam Dan Luke Anand
We need one more. Urgently. I also have no idea on what time we need to be at Mary Erskine so have email Cricket Scotland for more info... kinda left in the dark here!

Hey lads, I will not be here for the 2nd round of the indoor tourny on the 25th unfortunately, as I will be at a work meeting/piss up. Unavoidable I am afraid. In saying this Captain Andy Lacey to the rescuse who has kindly offered to organise. For those that played last time, I am assuming you are keen, but to those who didnt, it is good fun so put your name foward for selection.

2nd Week of Indoor 6s
We took on Grange and East Academy agoin in the 2nd round of pool games:
First game we were put into bat by Grange and managed to post 90 all out of 7.5 overs. Mangesh 23 Darryn 18 Anand 17*
Grange 93-2 in 7.2 overs
2 x run outs - Mel and Anand
Once again a strong Grange side and unfortunaely we didnt really post enough runs. This result along with Grange beating Academy meant that Grange progressed to the finals and the last game between us and Academy was a dead rubber.
However this game still resulted in a very tight and exciting contest (sorry dont have the full scorecard on this one so have to do it from memory):
East Academy - 116 all out
Dan: 2 wickets Anand (I think): 1 wicket
Couple of runouts including a very good direct hit run out by Batman.
Murrayfield DAFS - 108-3
Luke 25 retired Andy 25 retired
Went down to the last over with us requiring 16 over the last over and unfortunately we fell a little short. All and all an enjoyable tournament, heres hoping next year we can progress from the group stages. Many thanks to everyone who played and came along and supported.
