Just to confirm that Neil Yelly is now in the 3's for Vishwak, otherwise the team is as stated by the Rainman!
Good luck to everyone, forecast is looking pretty showery but hopefully we will get away with it.
Cheers
Phil

If anyone is up for a net I'll be there from 11.15, as will mr belly/beardy. A bit of fielding as well I reckon. Come along if you can. Cheers, Tom

Just thought i would do a brief summary of the 3s match this weekend which unfortunately ended up being our 4th loss on the bounce.
Having lost the toss Holy Cross 2s elected to bat. despite some decent bowling from Paul and Amir the openers rode their luck and got the score up to 67 after 12 overs. This was not helped by an injury to Neil Yelly and the late arrival of a newbie who thought the match was on sunday. However the arrival of young Fin brought the first dismissal leaving Cross 68-1 and then a few overs later Amir made this 74-2. Then after a good opening spell by Fin, SuBo who has been slightly off key in his first over (conceding 20) struck back when he returned 10 overs later to leave Cross 98-3. This put us in the driving seat but unfortunately we didn't press this home. SuBo bowled tightly but we couldn't put the breaks on at the other end. Bates cutting loose to hit 51 after being given several lives before he parted to a unique catch from Paul who pouched the ball in his chest after it rolled down his arms. When he departed the score was 156-4 and it was left for the excellent Russell who bowled some accurate spin bowling getting a fair bit of bounce and the returning Fin to restrict Cross to 201 off their 45. Unfortunately we didn't press home the advantage when we were on top which enabled Cross to get what was a competitive total on the astro. One really bright spot was the bowling of Fin who bowled extremely well and was lucky not to be rewarded with more wickets. Both Webb and Bates who scored the majority of the runs really struggled against him.
In reply myself and Dazza opened and began reasonable well against some very accurate and nagging line and length bowling from Cross, leaving us 37-1 when a half fit Dazza was finally caught at the 4th attempt after an uncharacteristic knock from him due to his groin injury. I was struggling to find any rhythm on the astro and before long we were 60-1 off 20 overs which was ok but slightly below where i wanted to be. Russell (4) and Fin (3) then departed to the bowling of Astley leaving myself and Westy at the crease. We took the score up to 80-3 off 28 overs before i had a crazy moment and managed to run myself out when attempting a run when i hit it straight to the fielder. Ironically if i had run from the start and not stopped midway i would have been in. Truly Appalling!! Unfortunately this then led to a procession of wickets that saw as collapse to 88-8 off 34 overs. This brought SuBo and Paul to the crease who preceded to show us all how it should be done. With an entertaining partnership they added 38 for the 9th wicket with some impressive running and hitting. We finished on 126-8 off 45 overs collecting 3 batting point thanks to both of them.
Unfortunately this was a disappointing display which highlighted our obvious frailty with the bat. An improvement on last week but just a little bit short. With one game left i am keen to finish on a winning note which i'm hoping we can do on saturday at Falkland.
