As I am first home (not that I played) here are the short results.
The 1sts won up at Stirling by 130 odd runs after scoring 280 odd
The 2nds lost to Falkland 2s by one wicket in a nail biter at Roseburn which they might easily have won
The 3rds crushed Leith 2s by nine wickets after bowling them out for 72
The 4ths recorded a welcome win over Drummond/Trinity 2s by 80 odd runs.

As you will have seen from Phil Yelly's post the 3's had a easy win against Leith FAB 2's yesterday.
Having won the toss i decided to put Leith in on what is normally a pretty slow and suspect artificial batting strip. This proved to be the correct decision with Paul and Amir bowling brilliant opening spells. Both bowled straight through and after 18 overs we had Leith 42-4 with Amir taking 3 and Paul 1, although Paul can count himself unlucky to not have bagged a couple more wickets with some interesting umpiring decisions. On came Garry and SuBo who then took another 4 Leith wickets to leave them in desperate trouble on 59-8. SuBo in particular bowled really well and although Garry had a major wide problem (9 wides in 4 overs) it was decent when he got his line right. Then came the drama. A catch was looped up to Adi at Mid On which unfortunately he dropped. However on doing so he cut the webbing in his finger which caused his hand to bleed heavily, a long delay occurred but after bandaging his hand and a glass of water. He was well enough to go to A&E and was fine to come back and see us win the match. So the match started again and produced more drama, the leith batsmen took a suicide run to Dan at mid wicket, having picked up the ball cleanly he threw it in to Westy. Unfortunately it was terrible (my exact description at the Murrayfield last night was "MASSIVELY CRAP") causing Westy to stretch for the ball and in the process dislocate his finger. It went back in but i thought it best that i took over the gloves with Westy fielding. 13 runs later we had bowled Leith out for 72 with Russell taking a wicket off his first ball.
Haven't struggled to chase 91 against Carlton earlier in the season i was very weary of not letting this happen again. Dazza came and went for 14 and it was left to me and Dale to bring the side home with some sensible batting even if myself in particular did scratch around a bit. We were helped a great deal by 29 extras including 17 byes and leg byes and surpassed their total in 19.1 overs.
Well done to all the players in the threes and lets get another win when we play Edinburgh Accies 2's at home next week!
P Leonard 9-3-22-1 A Mirza 9-3-18-3 G Tetley 4-0-11-2 S Yernani 7-3-9-3 D Frear 4-0-10-0 R Beretta 0.1-0-1-0
D Kidd 14 P Hawkins 15 NO D Simpson 15 NO

A bit more detail on the 1s result from Saturday – minus scorebook so apologies for the lack of detail on Stirling players in particular:
Murrayfield DAFS 1st XI 280-6: Luke Hayes 61, Mangesh Akerkar 62, Sam Fergusson 78no; David Kuhlwilm 3-39
Stirling County 2nd XI 155 all out: John Taylor 35; Melvyn Clench 3-25, Tom Wheeler 3-44
Murrayfield DAFS won by 125 runs
The 1s made it 11 out of 11 in the league this year with a convincing win over a Stirling side who never quite recovered from a rapid century partnership between Luke and Maggy after JP had departed without scoring. Although both fell either side of the drinks break, the platform had been laid for Sam to cut loose again (though just the one six this time, thus keeping the absent Regan in the mix for the coveted Mufs Kiwi Six-Hitting Trophy 2010). Well supported by Anand (25), Sam remained unbeaten as we posted a formidable 280 for 6 on a good-looking but surprisingly low pitch. The belated introduction of skipper Kuhlwilm’s off spin put the brakes on a little towards the end, as he found sharp turn in taking three wickets and pulling back the scoring rate compared to the quicker bowlers, but nonetheless 280 was a more than decent score to defend.
After a quite magnificent tea (including a delicious pasta bake – pure class), there followed a brief interlude of light rain, which briefly left us fearing another washout when on top (as had happened at home to Freuchie earlier in the season). But the rain relented and JP made an early breakthrough with a crackerjack delivery before a run had been scored, and Melv followed this up with a very sharp caught and bowled. Kashif chipped in with the third wicket, but opener Taylor managed to keep the runs flowing at the other end, and for a brief period he and the hard-hitting Adnan Akram were looking pretty comfortable, before Taylor nicked a wide one from Tom (one of several it must be said), then Akram slammed the same bowler straight to Luke at long-on.
Wickets continued to fall reasonably frequently, but with rain in the air and the home side well behind the required run rate, the key now was to get to the magic 30 over mark to ensure a match. So the (non-identical) spin twins, Asif and Tom, trundled through their overs as fast as possible until the 30th over came and went and we all began to breathe again. A couple of run outs and a couple more well deserved wickets for Melv completed a comfortable victory against the side who had given us probably our closest game of the season so far in the earlier meeting at Roseburn.
Thanks to the Stirling lads for the excellent hospitality (that really was quite some tea) and for going about the game in the right way. And special mention to Anand for his extraordinary collapsing/breakdancing/fielding effort on the boundary – apparently Sam subsequently thanked him for cheering us all up when we’d gone a bit flat in the field…good old Batman, what would we do without him…
Anyway, convincing wins for Musselburgh and Marchmont mean we need to keep winning right to the end of the season if we’re to guarantee Div 1 cricket for ourselves next season. And the cup competitions are also coming to a head, with the Terry Newcombe final v Standard Life this Wednesday before we host Westquarter at Roseburn twice in 48 hours, first in the Activcity Trophy quarter finals on Thursday and then in the league on Saturday.
Well played all, and keep up the good work boys.
Tom
