He's far too modest to mention it himself (or perhaps nobody's told him), but the front page of the ESCA website currently reads as follows:
Performance of the Month June 2010
There were a number of excellent performances during June, making the choice for the Competitions sub committee a particularly difficult one. However, after a great deal of consideration, we have decided that this month’s award should go to Mangesh Akerkar of Murrayfield DAFS. Mangesh had scores of 114 not out, 73 not out and 122 on three consecutive Saturdays, against Freuchie II, Kismet and Marchmont respectively. Congratulations to Mangesh for an excellent month with the bat.
Special mention also for Charlie Barratt of Edinburgh South, taking 8 for 19 against Stehousemuir II and Alan Watson of Old Contemptibles for his 7 for 13 and 51 v Heriots III. Both of these performances might well have been good enough to win the award in other months.
During June, Carlton IIIs may well have set a league record by scoring 441 for 5 against LFAB II. We will check this out.
Not sure about the "not out" details there (and it's not through incorrect match returns on my part, I've just checked...) but the scores are true enough, and the award thoroughly merited. I suspect though, that our skipper now has two bigger ESCA prizes on his mind, one team-related and one personal. Let's hope to see big steps taken towards both in Saturday's game v Musselburgh.
Congrats again mate.
