Result from Cavalry Park:
Marchmont 134 for 5 (20 overs; P.Maksimcyzk 41, A.Sardesai 52, S.Fergusson 2-30) Murrayfield DAFS 135 for 7 (19th over; A.Venkatesh 29 (?), W.Malik 4 wickets)
A hard fought victory against an understrength but determined Marchmont side – openers Sardesai and skipper Maksimcyzk were (I think) the only two who had played in the excellent league game at the same venue 10 days previously, and gave their side a great platform in the knowledge that their team’s chances probably rested with them. Sam broke the partnership in his first over and continued to bowl excellently until Wahid Malik (apologies if I’ve misremembered or misspelled the name) clonked him for two mighty sixes off successive balls to take the sheen off his bowling figures. Asif (1) and Mr Runout (2) were the other wicket takers.
135 was tough but gettable on the quick Cavalry Park outfield, and despite wickets falling at uncomfortably regular intervals, including 4 for Malik to cap an excellent all round display, contributions from Asif, Luke, Maggy and Anand helped us over the line and into the semi-finals – opponents and venues TBC.
