Can someone explain to Maggy how to start a new thread for League fixtures rather than posting teams on old unrelated threads.

And can someone explain to team captains how to post teams earlier in the week...

And the good news is that fielding the youngest team in the club's history, the 4ths defeated Holy Cross 3rds in an excellent game at Campbell Park by 22 runs.
Batting first, the 4s made 146 for 7 off 40 overs. Rommell Mehta on debut made 48 well backed by Chris Richardson 25, Phil Yelland 20 and Dave Clifford 18. Other contributions came from Euan McDonald 5. Annas Ibne 5 not out, Ben Falconer 4 not out, Don Wilkie 3 and Saad Ibne 1.
Holy Cross were bowled out for 124 in the 40th over. Euan McDonald took 3 for 13 off 4 overs - his first wickets for the club, Mamoun Shafi 2 for 14 off 8, Ross Kneebone 2 for 15 off 4 overs ( his first League wickets), Dave Clifford 1 for 16 off 8 overs, Rommell Mehta 0 for 21 off 8, Phil Yelland 0 for 9 off 2 and Annas Ibne 0 for 31 off 6.
Chris Richardson and Dave Clifford effected run outs whilst Mamoun took 2 catches and Dave one.
Ben Falconer who kept wicket and conceded just two byes is 12 as is Ross. Annas is 14 and Saad who took a superb catch off a no ball is just 16.
A great win in a game played in excellent spirits.

Well done the lads. Young and old - and not so old. Congrats to Ross on the first couple of what will be many many league wickets and 'Lucky' Ben on his first league runs!

As posted on ESCA forums:
DIv 2 at Duloch Park
Murrayfield DAFS 169 for 9 (M.Akerkar 73, J-P Cruz Rocha 37, A.Ali 5-13)
beat
Kismet 125 all out (T.Aziz 26, J-P Cruz Rocha 4-18, Asif Mohammed 3-24)
Excellent and intelligent batting from captain Mangesh and a superb all round display from JP secured a hard-fought win on a tricky pitch.
Will add more details after some quiet reflection, but diplomacy dictates that I probably leave it at that for now! Except to give additional mention to Asif for his fine spell of 3-24 and peerless navigational skills when searching for the ground...

MDAFS 3s (236-8) 20 points
bt
Musselburgh 2's (153 all out) 9 points
With this being a tricky match on paper i choose to bat on a decent looking batting track at Lewisvale Park. Dazza and I opened and it wasn't long before Dazza exploded into life hitting a few fours on a very large outfield. I was struggling to find my touch at the other end but kept battling away and was helped by Darryn keeping the scoreboard ticking along nicely at the other end. When he reached his 50 at around the 13 over mark i was still only on 4. Darryn continued his big hitting approach and was finally caught on 75 after being dropped on 20ish and 35ish. Just for the record as well this included a massive 31 runs which Darryn ran/ambled/strolled. This must surely be a MUFS record for him!
Meanwhile at the other end i was starting to get into my stride and accumulating a few more runs. Shehryar came and went in a quickfire 10 and then i was joined in the middle by Graham W and we continued to keep the scoreboard ticking along nicely. Despite a brief lull in the flow of runs between overs 30-35 we managed to significantly increase the rate through some well placed shots and excellent running between the wickets! Graham was bowled for 15 in the 39th over after a good 75 run partnership with me. Amir then came in and we carried on the quick scoring until i was bowled on 91 in the 42nd over (This definitely wasn't jug avoidance as i would have loved a first 100 for the MUFS). We then had a quick procession of wickets in the last few overs with all our batsmen hitting out and finished on a very respectable total of 236-8 on what was an extremely slow batting track with variable bounce.
In reply i opened the bowling with Paul and Amir. Both started well with Paul in particular bowling an excellent line and length throughout his 9 over spell which was rewarded with him bowling both openers. Amir struggled for consistency but when he got it right it was very useful and can count himself unlucky that he didn't take a wicket. At this stage Howarth and captain Gatner were going along nicely striking up a useful partnership and took a liking to Adi's bowling who struggled with his line and felt the wrath of some ferecious Dazza style hitting from Howarth. I felt that with both batsmen looking comfortable against the quicks that i would slow it down. This proved to be a great move as both Dan and Lindsay kept the scoring rate down which caused Gatner to sky one to me off the bowling of Lindsay. Dan then took the key wicket of Howarth when he attempted a sweep and was out LBW. This put us on top with Musselburgh being 116-4 after 25 overs. But with 20 overs remaining the game was still not over and with new batsmen Martin looking handy the game was still in the balance. Unfortunately for them none of Martin's partners wanted to stick around despite being repeatedly told and Lindsay starred with the ball to take the last 6 wickets with Dan bowling tightly at the other end. Lindsay showed that through both flight and accuracy you can frustrate the batsmen and cause them to do something stupid. So Musselburgh were 153 all out and Lindsay finished with figures of 7-31!
All in all this was a great win for us against a Musselburgh side who were very near to us in the league before the game started. A special mention must also go to Darryn for is Athletic fielding at Long on which was my highlight of the day, Speedy Gonzalez he is not!
