We interrupt this thread to bring you an important public service announcement...

We have our 2nd round game in the Small Clubs Cup this Sunday at Marchmont, 1pm start at Cavalry Park in Duddingston. At present we are really struggling for numbers - a core of 1st teamers confirmed and a few other possibles, but not enough to get a side out as things stand. Without further volunteers we will have to forfeit the game. As well as being pretty embarrassing, this would be a real shame as it's a tournament we have a real chance of winning.

So I'm posting on this thread - given that it's the one people are most likely to read - to appeal to members across the club to cancel the Sunday trip to the garden centre, talk very nicely to your nearest and dearest and make yourself available for selection. In the words of Delia, the nation's favourite booze-guzzling egg-boiling instructor - "Let's be having you!"

If you've been moved to tears (and more importantly action) by these stirring words, please text me asap on 07876 673320 to let me know you're available for selection.

TO ALL PLAYERS IN THE 3'S

SOME EXTRA INFO:

i have just received a call from the SMRH 2's captain saying there is a chance that we may be able to get on the grass pitch after the junior game which is being played in the morning. Therefore please bring spikes and trainers.

Details to follow but MDAFS 1s were scuppered by the rain that turned the Roseburn square into a lake within 10 minutes - Freuchie around 80 for 2 chasing 277 when the rain came, after a brilliant ton from Maggy, 50 from Regan and a jog-avaoiding 48 from Luke (though he bought a jug anyway).

4s game also abandoned (1 ball short of the 24 over mark that would have made it a game, with Leith 5 runs ahead on run rate...), and 3s at SMRH suffered same fate when 90-odd for 3 chasing 240-odd. 2s narrowly beaten by 20-ish runs at sunny Clackmannan, 232 played 212 I think (memory from the pub is a bit shaky though).

As noted on other thread, Small Clubs Cup game at Marchmont called off today due to the rain last evening and overnight. Rearranged date will be posted to the message board.
