The 4s lost by 8 wickets at Roseburn against their counterparts from Largo.
Batting first the 4s made 115 for 9 off 40 overs mainly thanks to 41 from Adi Choudery and 30 form Chris Richardson.
Largo made the 116 required for the loss of two wickets in the 35th over. Adi Choudery bowled 8 overs for 10 and was unlucky not to take a wicket, Phil Yelland took 1 for 18 off 8 overs and and Chris Richardson 1 for 16.
A special mention to one of the colts - Ben who played and fielded superbly

On a day that we managed to dodge the heavy rain MUFS 2s walk away with another comfortable victory at Roseburn.
Having lost the toss for the first time this year we were asked to bat by the oppposition. I would have batted anyway. We opened up with Messers Shiels and Donaldson who went about their job of seeing of the opening bowlers and any demons in the pitch from the rain just before the start of the game. We reached the 11th over before the first wicket of Donaldson fell with the score on 26. Vora entered and soon up the run rate and his brief 14 was end by a sharp caught and bowled. Banks and Shiels continued to build the innings with a fifty partnership before Shiels(38) was out in the 29th over to the first of many of Bray's catches in the point region. Enter the skipper to look to build upon the foundations laid and a score of 200+. Partners came and went with Banks going for 28 (should of been 32 and Shiels 4 less - leave the two of you to debate) Sorrell for 12 and Shah for 6 all again caught by Bray at point. During this time Vora retruned as a runner for the skipper minus a cap at the opposition request. With the score on 134-6 Settu came in 39th over and by the time he was out in the 46th over the score had moved onto 196. In between I witnessed some big hitting (one six that Richard reckons carried 100m) and some crazy running that I am sure was attempting to run me out. Scott came in for the last 4 overs and we pushed the score onto 232-7 of the 50 overs with Scott on 16* and Lacey 46*. A very good score with the Murrayfield outfield and against a decent enough bowling attack on a slowish pitch.
After tea we went about the business of bowling out the opposition. Fine opening spells from Singh and Settu saw them quickly 2 down for 12 and then after the introduction of Scott along with the excellent Singh had the opposition 37 - 6 after 13 overs. After Yerneni got the 7th wicket 3 overs later we then struggled to remove the last 3 wickets. We did not help ourselves by dropping a couple of chances during a 17 over period where the no 7 & 8 batsman had a 40 or so run partnership. It was the reintroduction of Singh that finally end things with 3 wickets in 3 overs to finish with 6-22 and he believes his first ever five wicket haul. It was a tremendous performance with my personal picks the wicket of the no. 3 batsman were we had him caught behind down leg for it not to be given only for the next bowl to be a rising ball on the offside and caught behind and there was no doubt this time. But the delivery of the day was the removal the no 9 batsman which move slightly to clip the top off stump.
So in the end a comfortable 131 run victory and another 20 points.
Shiels 38 Donaldson 10 Vora 14 Banks 28 Lacey 46* Sorrell 12 Shah 6 Setu 32 Scott 16* Singh DNB Yerneni DNB
Singh 10-2-22-6 Settu 8-2-36-1 Scott 5-1-12-2 Yerneni 6-0-9-1 Sorrell 4-1-4-0 Vora 3-0-8-0 Shiels 1-0-4-0

With the covers on at Newfield and some suspect looking weather i was always confident in my colleague's predictions that we would largely escape any rain around.
Once the covers were taken off I won the toss on what looked like a decent batting track. With the overcast conditions and some moisture in the pitch i thought we could get on top with the ball. I am also amazed to say that Dazza turned up 20 minutes before the start of the match which was a record this season!
Anyway so i opened the bowling with the excellent Leonard and 3's debutant Amir Mirza. Leonard was excellent taking the wicket of the dangerous looking Banerjee who on another day may have scored 50 in 5 overs! Mirza was struggling with his line so after 3 overs i replaced him with Reyaz. The two of these then bowled very well in tandem to restrict the score although neither bowler seemed to have luck on their side. Particularly Reyaz who continiously beat the bat and had a number of near misses in the slips. He did get his reward however when the rather streaky youngster Colam drove to Dan at mid wicket where he took an easy catch. Next up was Under 16 Graham who on first appearance seemed to look very nervous with the bat and likely to give his wicket away at any time. Despite a number of close misses he managed to survive and him and the patient Black started building their total. By this time i had bought on the spin duo of Towns and Frear. What we had come to realise was that this was one of the slowest pitches ever and Frear particularly struggled when his good length balls were easily being hit off the back foot! So with 35 overs bowled and their score on 131-2 i bought on Raj R and bought back Amir. Raj in particular was excellent. Bowling 5 overs for 27 runs when both batsmen were well set and were hitting balls to all parts. Amir also found some rhythm despite being hit for 3 4's in a row by young graham. So with 2 wickets for Amir and 1 for Raj, they ended up on 201 - 5 off 45 overs which i thought was probably at least 70-100 runs too short on what was a desperately slow pitch and with the batting line up we had. As a fielding unit it was hard at times due to the extremely dodgy outfield and batter friendly wicket but i was pleased with how we all stuck in there and managed to restrict their total.
So up stepped myself and Dazza to open the batting. This is when the fireworks really began to happen. Dazza took a liking to both their openers and started dispatching balls to all parts reaching his 50 in 7 overs and then finally departing for 67 with the score on 80 after 10 overs (think i was 7no). In came watson and despite giving a couple of early chances he got into his groove and we began knocking off a few runs each over to keep the score ticking along until i was caught behind off the bowling of Colam when well set on 30 leaving us 116-2. So up stepped big hitter number 2 Reyaz. In a typical Reyaz style innings he despatched many balls on the legside for 4 and before long he and watson had allowed us to reach their total in only 30.2 overs. This was a excellent batting display although it should be said that this is not the best bowling attack we will face this season.
Well done to everyone and lets take this form into next week when we play Stuart Melville 2's who are on a good run of form themselves!
