Hi all Sunday sees us take on Woodcutters at Roseburn in the 50 over Small Clubs Cup. Limited availability among 1s regulars so a chance for others to stake a claim and enjoy a competive Sunday's cricket. Availability to me at the usual please (07876 673320 or imsorryihavent@cluemail.com). Cheers Tom

7 players so far for this one:
1. Tom W 2. Shielsy 3. Hubbs 4. Luke 5. Asif 6. Bharat 7. Paul L
Broon has also provisionally volunteered but may be called into the "rival" Botanics fixture against Innellan on the same day. More numbers please - if last year's cup experience is anything to go by then it should be a fun but competitive day and a chance for players from the lower teams to showcase their skills in the 1st team.
And just as importantly, this is most definitely a competition we can win, so if you're free please do put your name forward.
Cheers Tom

A touch one-sided in the end...
MDAFS 264 for 9 (Paul H 46, Reyaz 34, Luke 32, Asif 31, David Clifford 24, Melv 21; B.Russell 4-45)
Woodcutters 62 all out (G.Campbell 35; Bharat 3-14, Tom W 3-4)
MDAFS win by 202 runs!
Enjoyable day in the sun even though it was only really going one way after Asif and Reyaz, then Paul, David and Melv lifted us to a very challenging total in our 45 overs. Then a cracking spell by Bharat saw off the Woodcutters dangerman Scott (scorer of 140-odd in this trophy last year) and the rest of the top order, brilliantly supported in the field with Sutha, Alan and Paul L taking cracking catches and Luke a superb run out (apparently scorpion-like, according to Asif). Skipper for the day Tom ended Graeme Campbell's excellent innings of 35 before polishing off the tail, with a view to polishing off several pints. Look forward to meeting the Woodcutters again in a (less cut-throat) midweek game later in the year.
Next up in the Small Clubs Cup we go to Marchmont on Sunday 6 June - will need a strong side for that one, early notes of availability most welcome.
Cheers Tom
