Folks To note that the match has been switched from Lewisvale to the rather more luxurious location of Loretto School. Directions on the school website - we're asked if possible to park on the High Street next to the entrance to the school grounds (entrance is on the right as you drive through Musselburgh, just by a large church). www.lorettoschool.co.uk/directions/We're asked if possible to park on the High Street itself rather than on the school grounds, but we may be able to negotiate on that (particularly for whoever is bringing the club kit). And one last thing - apparently there is no smoking on the school grounds! Given the makeup of our team then this may be a challenge but please try to adhere to it! Can always nip away for the odd quick f*g when we're batting... Cheers - see you all at Murrayfield Hotel by 11.30am please! Tom

I see a large number of players picked to play this weekend who have yet to pay their subs.
You are all reminded that they became due in January, but that the AGM agreed a dispensation to pay in instalments during the indoor nets. We are now firmly into the season and all subs should be paid forthwith.

Taken from ESCA boards.....
Division 2:
At Loretto School
Murrayfield DAFS 241-8 defeated Musselburgh 210-8
Division 5:
Murrayfield DAFS III beat Watsonian III at Craiglockhart by 105 runs
DAFS 206 ao Reyaz 88, Hawkins 59 (fifth wicket stand of 139 after they were 47-4) Handyside 4-28, McNab 2-21
Watsonian 101 ao Gaywood 25, Steve Lockhart 20 Frear 4-34, Gaddam 3-21
and err look away if you are of a nervous disposition....
Division 8
Murrayfield DAFS vs Teuchters CC @ Roseburn
Teuchters 405-3 (40 overs) - R Bartsch 236*
Murrayfield 140-8 (40 overs)- Amir 50* odd
Not sure I will ever play in a game like that ever again in my life. A good pitch and a fast outfield, combined with Rich seeing it like a beachball equalled 10-an-over all the way through. Well spirit game, and always a pleasure playing the DAFS boys.

Updates skips/vice skips Shouldn't be relying on Broon who, wasn't even at any of the matches, to do this!!! :-( Div 3 brief details as I recall (obviously don't have book so not exact) MDAFS 2s - 226-8 off 50 overs - Belly 65, Banks 48, Anand 21? Penicuik 2s - 120 all out. Raj S 4 wickets for 16.

Right i'm now back in possession of my bag and the scorebook so can give you a slightly delayed match report of the 3's first victory of the season over Watsonian 3's.
On what looked like a fairly decent batting track for Division 5 standard i won the toss and choose to bat. With Darryn making a typically late arrival i was forced into a batting reshuffle and promoted Shehryar to open with me. This backfired almost immediately when Shehryar mistimed a pull shot and top edged it straight to gully. Next up was Chris West who looked in good form and was starting to find his rhythm before was caught in the slips from a very good ball from the excellent Watsonians 16 yr old quick bowler McNab, who then accounted for Darryn who failed to trouble the scorers much. Madhu soon followed not long after being bowled by their captain Gaywood which left us in deep trouble on 47-4. Next man in was Reyaz and from the off he took the attack to the Watsonian bowlers dispatching the ball to all parts. I had also started to find my touch and together we steadied the ship and got us back on top. Before long 34 overs had passed and we had managed to take the score up to 186/4 before i was bowled after playing a rash shot to an average ball. Only 20 was added after this with another major collapse as Reyaz fell to a brilliant catch in the deep and the rest of the batting capitulated leaving as 206 all out. Reyez got 88 and i finished with 57 (not 59).
Our bowling in reply was excellent throughout despite it being slightly tarnished to an injury to Jonathan Jenner after only 3 overs.
Opening with Jonathan and Bharad we were quickly on top with Jonathan striking in the first over with a rather fortuitous wicket due to a poor shot. Bharad then got his wicket in the 7th over cleaning their number 3 up with a beauty. Although this was his only wicket it was an extremely tight spell of bowling in which he conceded only 12 off his 7 overs. During his spell Jonathan could not continue and Subhash was bought on but was unable to make the breakthrough as experienced opener Lockhart was starting to look comfortable. This led me to a double change bringing on Dan and Madhu for their bowling debuts. Before long Madhu had removed the dangerous Lockhart and Dan started to find his groove and we gradually got on top. With a steady flow of wickets and some tight fielding Dan and Madhu both finished their spells with excellent figures of 4-34 and 3-20 respectively. Finally it was left for Reyaz to pick up the final wicket which came from a spectactular one handed diving catch from injured Jonathan at Mid on.
This really was an excellent bowling and fielding display which made my job as captain extremely easy. More of the same next week please and maybe a few more scores with the bat!
