Hi The several of you who have been asking me when the delayed 2009 MUFTA awards will take place need worry no more - I haven't forgotten it completely, and it has been pencilled in for Friday 16 April at an Edinburgh venue to be confirmed, start time around 7.30pm. The evening will involves a meal followed by the sensible awards (player of the year for each of the four teams, best newcomer, most improved player etc). Then we move on to the less sensible awards, such as Worst Dressed Muf, Worst Haircut, Comedy On and Off Pitch Moments and so on. Newly invented awards categories are always encouraged, limited only by your imagination... I'm away this coming week but should get venue, timings & cost fixed up over Easter weekend and posted on this thread. But in the meantime, put the date in your diary and let me know if you're up for coming along so I can get an idea of numbers. And if the proposed date is no good for you then please let me know as well - if lots of us are unavailable then I can look to another date, probably the following Friday (23 April). As usual, you can contact me on 0787 667 3320 or imsorryihavent@cluemail.com. Cheers Tom

Hi again all
A combination of non-availability of both people and suitable venues means that the 16th doesn't look like a goer I'm afraid. The Murrayfield Hotel can accommodate us on the evening of Friday 23rd April - how's that looking for people? Please let me know on this thread or by text/email. If it's OK for enough of us then I'll confirm the booking and post menu details etc up here.
I'm aware that the 4s have a league game on the Saturday, and the rest of us have pre-season games, but seeing as how the MUFTAs is never a particularly boozy affair anyway, I don't see that being a problem...
Will also post up voting forms on this thread, so start racking your brains for memorable moments (comedy and otherwise) from 2009.
Will be at nets on Saturday to sound you all out in person anyway!
Cheers Tom

1. Muftas should be boozy affairs. 2. Bring it on.

OK, here's the latest - Friday 23rd confirmed at the Murrayfield. They've got a new approach to catering for events like this, where you can either order from a fairly posh-looking (and pricey) menu, or they do a customisable hot/cold buffet for a lot less. My thinking is that we should probably go for the latter option, which would make for a more informal occasion and would avoid pricing anyone out of taking part - would hope to keep food costs to around £12-14 per head and still have plenty of nice food to go round.
If that seems OK to people then I'll ask for confirmation of who's attending over the next few days, send out a club-wide email and post up the all-important nomination and voting forms. And if you're new to the club, or have never attended a MUFTAs evening before, then do come along - it's a great way to get to know fellow club members ahead of the new season, and always a good laugh.
On a separate note, 1s(ish) team to play Holy Cross this Sunday 18 April will be posted soon. If you're not involved but you're free on Sunday then do come along to Arboretum (just across the road from where our winter nets have been happening) - watch your clubmates in action and enjoy a good day out.
And a reminder that the last indoor net session is this Saturday (17 April), Academy Sports Centre, 2-4pm as usual.
Cheers Tom

Hi again Confirmed as 7.30pm start on Friday 23 April at the Murrayfield Hotel. Maximum cost £15 including substantial buffet (but may be a bit less). For those who are unfamiliar, the format is that we have some semi-serious awards, such as player of the year (teams 1-4), young player of the year and most improved player, chosen by the appropriate captains and/or committee. Then the fun stuff starts, with the less sensible awards that everyone present can vote for on the night. The attached form shows the existing voting categories - but you're welcome to suggest new ones... Need to start confirming numbers asap so if you haven't done so already, please let me know if you're planning to attend so we can get the catering numbers right. You can do this by text to 07876 673320, or email imsorryihavent@cluemail.com, where you can also email your voting forms (by next Thursday 22 April please). See you all there! Cheers Tom Attachments:
