Hi all
After the extended Scottish monsoon put paid to our trip to Fauldhouse last week, it's win or bust against Watsonians in our penultimate game of the season. Victory would keep our survival hopes very much alive, as well as dragging our opponents down into the mix, so Mr Belly's Python-esque mantra of "every point is sacred" is as true as ever. For us, only 20 points will do. And the fewer points Watsonians come away with, the better our chances of Division 1 cricket next year.
Charged with the responsibility for this are:
1. Tom Wheeler 2. Ian Shiels 3. Paul Hubbard 4. Raja Sampath 5. Raj Devanagere 6. Jean-Pierre Cruz Rocha 7. Phil Rogers 8. Melvyn Clench 9. Luke Hayes 10. Mangesh Akerkar 11. Danny Abraham
Meet 12pm at the latest, but the nets will be up from 11ish so if you can make it along early for a bit of practice, please do so.
If you're not playing cricket on Saturday then come to Roseburn and support - it will be very much appreciated.
Best of luck to the 2s, as they look to secure the points that would guarantee them Division 3 cricket next year, and to 3s and 4s for a strong finish to the season.
Cheers Tom

Hello All,
Team 2 play away to Kismet at Dumfermline. the postcode for the ground is Duloch Park, Greenshank Road, KY11 8HD Dunfermline.
kismet are top of the table at the moment, and we know that its not the most enjoyable of teams to play against especially given their attitude to their cricket. furthermore, i am aware that the first leg of the season against them had some very questionable decisions from their side. i guess the best way to overcome that is to win this fixture, and reply back to them...that also shall ensure Div 3 cricket in 2010 for team 2,
the team is :
Ankeet Vora Adam Scott Rafic M Settu Lindsay Towns Chris West Sutha R Jigar Patel Anand V Siva S Asif Mohammed Adeel R
Adam would be driving straight to the ground itself. We meet at the Murrayfield Hotel at 11.30 am. Chris could it be possible to drive into town to pick up a few team members. at the moment its only the two of us to drive. need to do some confirmations on this too... i shall confirm with you all more about the logistics on friday evening.
the opposition has just informed me that there is a possibility of the game being played on an artificial surface (you were indeed right Andy!!!) so please also carry shoes without spikes also....
see you soon. and all the best to all the teams in this penultimate game of the league.
cheers

The 2's game versus Kismet CC has been called off. received a message from the opposition captain saying "Hi Ankeet, Nice and sunny here but MAtch is off, outfield is Waterlogged. :-("
Can you please send availability to me for next Saturday League game as well as the friendly on Wednesday versus Botanics. This is the last midweek friendly of the season.
In another issue, there is a fair play award from ESCA, where each team has to nominate two teams who they think are the most fair in their game. I would like all of us to think about the this and send your opinions to the captains.
Those of you who are keen may come down to support hte ones and fours at roseburn today, threes are at newfield.
cheers

Providing my maths is correct, the fact that Dunnikier scratched against Drummond/Trinity this week means the 2nds are safe from any threat of relegation.
They can go out and enjoy the final game next week.
Well done lads - a season of consolidation; hopefully a promotion bid next season

Here is the 3s result:
MUFS 3s 137 ao (41.5 overs) EA 2s 62 ao (26.5 overs)
MUFS win by 65 runs.
MUFS Batting:
Beretta 0 Kidd 6 Shah 2 Sunki 0 Lacey 63 Banks 7 Patterson 14 Baikie 13 Yerneni 0 Clifford 13 Leonard 0*
Bowling:
Sunki 9-1-22-2 Patterson 9-3-8-5 Leonard 4-3-4-1 Beretta 2-0-19-0 Yerneni 2-0-5-0 Clifford 0.5-0-3-0
Catches (Beretta 1, Run outs 2 (Patterson, Banks/Sunki)
Interesting game. Mufs were 25-5 after 10 overs and edged are way to 137 all out. Accies in response were 17-5 after 10 overs but we managed to reduce them further to 21-8.
Outstanding game but Patterson who help the skipper steady the ship with the bat and then took 5 wickets and a run out in the field.

Mr Barrow is indeed correct and the Twos will be in Division 3 next year. Don't think there's any likelihood of any East team coming down from the Nationals so should only be 2 down.
Ones remain alive after defeating Watsonians 2 by 67 runs at Roseburn. MDAFS posted 150-9 with JP's 46 holding our innings together. We got off to an excellent start with the ball by removing the Watsons openers quickly and kept the pressure on. Ex Roseburner, David Breach, kept us at bay but once dismissed we managed to wrap up a vital victory. Elsewhere in Div 1, Glens beat Accies (170 v 55) to virtually guarantee Div 1 cricket for them (they need just 1 pt from final game). Largo were beaten by Holy Cross (thanks chaps). Heriots won but their recent upsurge is in vain as our victory means they will be relegated. The equation for us is simple - if we beat Heriots then only victories for Watsons and/or Largo will see us relegated from Div 1.
while here and posting ... GOTTIM... 1 wkt away. Harmy on a hat-trick!!!

A few more details from 1s victory against Watsonians:
MDCC 150-9 (50 overs) - Cruz Rocha 46, Scott 12, Hubbard 12, Akerkar 11; Boorman 2-28, Brooks 2-23, Cash 2-31
Watsonians 83 all out (35.2 overs) - Breach 36, Sevak 14; Clench 7.2-4-7-2, Scott 7-1-10-1, Wheeler 4-0-11-0, Cruz Rocha 9-1-26-3, Devanagere 8-1-21-4
Great effort from JP in particular with the bat on a damp and tricky track - although after all the recent rain, groundsman Hubbard did a grand job getting it to play as well as it did. Other smallish but vital contributions all the way down the order took us to a defendable if not dominant score.
Then Melv and Ads turned the game crucially in our favour, each removing an opener for a duck in their first overs, both smartly caught by a grateful Luke at mid on. Dave Breach, ex-Cramond/Roseburn colleague of several of us and all round good egg, led the rebuilding effort, but wickets fell regularly at the other end to Raj D and JP, who complemented each other perfectly to blast/strangle out the visitors. Dave's departure for 36 was probably the clincher and Melv eventally returned to polish off the innings for 83.
Great and crucial win, and a game played in excellent spirit. Mr Belly has already set out the maths - if we win and either Largo or Watsons lose (or are rained off) then the great escape will be a reality.
