Hi all
MDCC 1s to play Glenrothes away on Saturday:
1. Tom Wheeler 2. Ian Shiels 3. Paul Hubbard 4. Raja Sampath 5. Raj Devanagere 6. Regan Black 7. Phil Rogers 8. Jean-Pierre Cruz Rocha 9. Luke Hayes 10. Adam Scott 11. Mangesh Akerkar
Meet 11.15am at Murrayfield Hotel please. It's all pretty clear now - we need 20 points every game, starting Saturday. Let's take the good points from the bowling/fielding against Carlton and put that together with something that could reasonably be described as batting...
Cheers, and good luck to all four teams.
Tom

The 4s play Leith this weekends in an away game. The match was originally Leith Links, then changed to the Meadows and now appears to be back at Leith. I’m trying to get something confirmed. Apparently the 2nd pitch at Leith is ready for games so looks like we’ll be there. Game now confirmed as Leith Links. Please reply to the text so I know everyone understood the contents about venue change. Please arrive by 12:45maps.google.co.uk/maps?f=q&source=s_q&hl=en&geocode=&q=leith+links&sll=55.950176,-3.187536&sspn=0.698954,1.391144&ie=UTF8&ll=55.971373,-3.160973&spn=0.010615,0.021737&z=16&iwloc=A I’ll be driving down to leave Gorgie around 12 via Roseburn. Will collect Subhash, KP and have room for another with a very small (or no) bag. Match will be on grassThe team has been subject to quite a few changes so the only inspiration is to sort by the speed you replied to the text message I sent out this week. Chris Brown – Instantly obviously Kris Parker – 1 minute Dave Clifford – 6 mins Rob Fotheringham – 34 mins Chris Richardson – 47 mins Subhash Yerneni – 1hr 50 mins Brad Mowat – 5hrs 31 mins Don Wilkie – 22hrs 55 mins Graham Watson – 1day 3hrs and 1 min Neil Cummings – 23hours 54 mins (Mobile stolen but checked by email – Good work) Neil Cameron – Still await confirmation but he’s usually excellent Up the Mufs CB

Hippo Park underwater and no prospect of play despite better forecast for later - 1s game off. Not what we needed at all, but seemed horribly inevitable once the heavens opened yesterday and didn't really bother to close again.
Sigh.

Another road trip for the 4s took us to Leith and we successfully found a hole in the clouds. We also eventually found a full team thanks to getting one of Vamshi’s pals, Ishaan, out of bed and making Finlay’s mum drive him down to Leith Links fresh from the Jamaican beaches. That left a makeshift Mufs team facing a far stronger Leith side than the one comfortably beaten in July. And it was also another lost toss which put us into bat on the main wicket that looked challenging to say the least. And from the very first ball if was evident that this was going to be a struggle with Vyas finding pace and extreme bounce from one end and Lovett movement from the other. And with 9 on the board both Irfan and Chris Richardson fell and soon after it was 3 with Don done off a ball that didn’t bounce. Subhash at 3 was fighting the bounce with Dave Clifford until he became Lovett’s 3rd wicket with the score on only 22. Subhash only lasted another couple of overs and fell for 12. Brad though was coping the best with the pitch and was on his way to a highly impressive 27, but when he fell the 7th wicket was down, with Ishaan having already departed, and the score was only on 69. Disaster was to follow as Neil Cummings pulled his calf and as screams of pain echoed around the links he hobbled off with Rob joining young Finlay. Rob lasted only a few balls and with only 7 balls to go the skipper was run out without facing after a mix up over a 2nd run. That meant a total of only 74 was scored which meant some depressed faces at tea. However spirits were lifted as a succession of Muffers were subjected to a barrage of good humoured ridicule from the tea lady. With Neil watching from the sidelines, and Rob taking the keeping gloves, the 10 took to the field and immediately the pitch started playing its games again. And as if by magic Leith also found themselves 13/3 with Williams, Ingram and Fraser falling and they were soon to be followed by Wilson and Pugh meaning the scoreboard was FAB for the Mufs not Leith. At this point though Irfan had to leave the scene as well meaning there were only 9 left fielding. But Brad was finding the same bounce that caused us to lose wickets and had Jameson caught through an excellent catch by Rob and then had Yorke playing on and unbelievably it was 31/7. That brought Smith and Lovett to the crease and they started taking on the bowling. However the Mufs thought they had their men as a huge shout for a caught behind went unanswered and then a low bounce had the batsman trapped in front but the appeal was denied. And with that the game slipped away as some big hitting saw the ball disappearing into the allotment fence, and then over it, from Smith to see Leith home without further loss. Credit though must be taken in the mitigating circumstance for such a fightback and the resilience shown in the field. The pitch had also settled down with the sun and wind and became slightly more placid, with less pot holes. On the other pitch there was further excitement, and a bit of friction, as West Quarter hit 3 sixes off the final over to beat Leith 1s, much to some of the spectators amusement.
