Iain Martin ESCA PR Convenor today released the following statement to the associated cricket and scottish media. Available for publication from Sunday 28 January 2007.
The East of Scotland Cricket Association (ESCA) is delighted to announce the agreement of a long-term sponsorship arrangement with Baillie Gifford, an independent investment management firm based in Edinburgh which manages more than £45 billion of assets for clients in the UK and throughout the world. The sponsorship arrangement, which has been agreed for the 5 year period covering the 2007 to 2011 cricket seasons, secures the financial future of ESCA, and allows the continued provision of nationally renowned coaching and facilities for youth cricket throughout the East of Scotland, as well as the continued running of the East League. The league, which acts a feeder for the Scottish National Cricket League, will be known as "The East League, sponsored by Baillie Gifford". ESCA is still searching for sponsors for its two cup competitions; the Masterton Trophy, played as a 20/20 knockout competition on weekday evenings, and the President's Trophy, a 40 overs cup competition for those players playing regularly in the East League. Anybody interested in sponsoring these competitions should in the first instance contact Iain Martin, ESCA PR Convenor, on ijmartin@talk21.com, or 07973 105818.

Does this mean that fees will be returned to pre AGM levels?

The ESCA committee agreed to reduce the increases made at the AGM (though it took some pushing!) - instead of £110 for 3-team clubs it will be £90. 2-team clubs £80 and one-team clubs £70. Juniors will be asked to pay a £10 joining fee if selected for an ESCA squad. The subs will be reviewed next AGM
