Hi
This weekend will hopefully see another weekend of play without any rain interuptions and wins for all to celbrate Pav's engagement (see socials thread). This time of year is very difficult for the captains with school holidays eating into the player pool so please be patient with teams being posted and also let the captins know as soon as you think you may be doubtful for a match.
1s v Boroughmuir @ Meggetland - By 12:15 Latest 2s v Grange @ Roseburn - Meet at 12:00 3s v Falkland* @ Falkland School - By 11:15 at Murrayfield Hotel 4s v Kirk Brae @ Roseburn - Meet at 12:45
* please note this is Falkland in Fife not the islands off the southern tip of Argentina !!
Teams will follow later.

Better safe than sorry. Many a time players went to Muirhouse instead of Roseburn, or the Grange instead of Grange Loan. Then there is Marchmont who don't play at the meadows which is where Marchmont is and Crammond used to squat at Roseburn where Murrayfield play. Ending up in the Southern Hemisphere is the illogical next step really.
It feels like the back of beyond there anyway!

Whoops, duplicate thread going on here - my mistake. Broon, you're a clever administrator type fella, can you get rid of the other one? Anyway, here's what I said on another similarly named thread: Hi folks Team for Saturday's game away to Boroughmuir at Meggetland (location via link below - 10 and 27 buses will get you there): maps.google.co.uk/maps?hl=en&q=EH14+1AS&um=1&ie=UTF-8&split=0&gl=uk&ei=7KtcSvTHKdzMjAf3sezcDQ&sa=X&oi=geocode_result&ct=title&resnum=1In no particular order, and with one TBC shortly: 1. Tom Wheeler 2. Ian Shiels 3. Paul Hubbard 4. Luke Hayes 5. Mangesh Akerkar 6. Melvyn Clench 7. Adam Scott 8. Raj Devanagere 9. Raja Sampath 10. Regan Black 11. Danny Abraham Meet by 12.15pm at latest please - last time we played in that part of town we only had 6 players at the scheduled 1pm start time, and it's fair to say the lack of preparation time didn't exactly do us any favours... The very best of luck to all four teams this weekend. Thanks Tom

The 4s play at home to the Badgers of Kirk Brae.
Please arrive for 12:45 on Saturday. In the absence of the Dame Bascombe, Neil Cameron will again act as deputy and all the joyous duties that entails like collecting your hard-earned cash.
The team has been changed slighty due to some late, and in Dave Clifford's case comedy, injuries further up so still not quite finalised.
And this week it in the order of the most likely to be able to ride the Tour de France. I don't think Mark Cavendish and Lance Armstrong would have much competition.....
1. Nick Hill - Gotta be king of the Mountains with a name like that 2. Rob Fotheringham - His namesake once wrote a cycling book 3. Gurjeet Singh - Built like a cyclist...or a jockey 4. Kris Parker - Team Sprinter 5. Neil Cameron - Likes wearing cycling shorts 6. Neil Cummings - Carrying the teams spare tyres... Sorry Neil 7. Shehryar Shah - Riding with stabilisers ..... its his debut your see 8. Chris Brown - Team Principle 9. Iain Martin - The 'Lantern Rouge'.... look it up 10. Drew Barker - Actually rides a bike so must be on EPO and would be disualified anyway 11. Srehary Kalichamy - Best young rider... in a white jersey / cricket sweater
Please let me know asap it you need to call off please and if i do not answer please leave a text or voicemail.

how the hell do you manage to think up all these listing criteria Chris. you leave the remaining captains, way behind in the shadows - John Bruneel needs to learn something here....

1s game at Boroughmuir is off due to waterlogged pitch. I gather from Anks that the 2s game at Roseburn is also washed out. Last I heard the 4s game was still potentially on on the Roseburn arti. No word about 3s on Falkland artificial but Mr Leonard has recently been seen splashing his way up towards the bus stop, so still on as far as I'm aware...

3s off too I believe but 4s still on. They are a fairly waterproof and hardy lot.

Hardy indeed - and can we offer... nerveless... a fantastic couple of late overs from Irfan Mahmud swung a game the 4s were looking likely to lose dramatically back their way with a 5 wkts for 10 runs - 3 wickets in the last over of the match as Kirkbrae needing 6 to won off the last over fall 4 runs short chasing 116 off 30 overs in a rain reduced match. Debutant Sherri scored 45 for the 4s in their total.
Top dramatic and magic entertainment. Who needs the Ashes!

The 4s have made something of a speciality of beating the weather this season and so it proved once again. Despite intermittent heavy showers the match against Kirk Brae took place and was completed at Roseburn in a wisely reduced 30 over match. Another lost toss meant Mufs were put into bat on a temporarily dry wicket. However there was immediate joy for the Badgers as Neil Cameron was bowled by Mak Raja for a duck. What followed was steady batting and steady rain as debutant Shehryar Shah and the returning Nick Hill patiently put on another 85 for the next wicket. However both were to fall in the same Rasheed over as first Shehryar was caught for 45 as was Nick for 19. The partnership was far lower than it would have been with a dry outfield and a hard ball. Irfan immediately fell for 1 and Drew went a couple of overs later for a single too. Hary (Sreehary Kalichamy) was showing some bit hitting and dismissed one ball just short of the Stadium hedge for 6. Rob also added some late hitting and was dismissed off the final ball for 9 with Hary not out on 14. Mufs had thus reached an about par 116/6 which meant that Kirk Brae would almost need 4 an over. An emergency tea courtesy of Anks, Siva and Sainsbury was polished off and Neil Cameron took the new ball with Gurjeet. The latter almost had Raja caught of a swinging delivery but was put down by Rob, although next over Neil had skipper Jones trapped LBW. Similar to the Mufs innings Kirk Brae set about building a solid partnership and it was the 22nd over with the score on 85 that the next wicket fell when Mak Raja was out LBW for 37 off Irfan. That was the same score as the Mufs 2nd wicket as despite some long faces in the fielding team this was an over more than we’d taken to get the same score. However with only 32 to get and 8 wickets in hand the game was in their favour. However excellent fielding had started to sew some seeds of doubt and erratic running resulted in Irfan running out McMahon for 6 and three balls later Neil claimed Ashraf for 37 off a c&b with the score on 96/4 in the 27th. That meant Kirk Brae needed 21 off 22 balls and the game was well back in the 4s favour as Tahir strode to the crease. Just 4 balls later Boonie’s over had finished and there was another 12 on the board as Tahir’s 1st and 4th balls were hit for 6s towards the delighted Badger’s team and a slightly concerned Shielsy at the scoreboard. Irfan bowled Rasheed for a duck as his the 28th over only went for a single and it was in the balance again. Gurjeet who hadn’t bowled since the 8th over was handed the ball for the penultimate over and delivered a sensational set of deliveries with only 2 harsh wides coming from it. He also deservedly picked up the wicket of Kahn who was clean bowled for 1. With 6 needed off the last over Irfan took the ball and produced a brilliant 1st ball to bowl the big hitting Tahir for 12. A dot and single followed and that meant 5 needed to win off three. However that was never in doubt as both Clark and D1ckens were bowled to leave him with figures of 5-0-10-5. That meant tables were turned on last weeks heartbreak and Mufs came out on top by 4 run. Total respect though to Kirk Brae, for an excellent game and for the way they congratulated our boys at the end. And also to every single player for the never say die attitude in the field.
