Hi all
Our Parks Trophy quarter final against Edinburgh South has been arranged for Thursday 9 July at Roseburn. Big game as the winners go on to the finals day at Myreside on 9 August - and those who were involved in or came to watch the delayed 2008 finals day this April will know that this is a prize that's well worth striving for.
Captains will be checking availability this weekend, but feel free to contact me separately using the usual details to make sure I know whether or not you're available.
Please note that this fixture replaces the friendly we had provisionally organised against the same opponents on this date.
Cheers Tom

No probs Vamshi - I gather there were quite a few walking wounded after Sunday's excellent win. Only Anand seemed to be as fit after the game as he was before - and that's only because he was in quite such a rough state on Sunday morning...
Anyway, here's the XI to play Edinburgh South at Roseburn on Thursday, 6pm start (it's a cup game so please try to be there in good time, and let me know if you are running late for any reason):
In no particular order because I haven't thought of one yet:
1. Tom Wheeler (c) 2. Paul Hubbard (wk) 3. Raja Sampath 4. Melvyn Clench 5. Phil Rogers 6. Adeel Raza 7. Ankeet Vora 8. Jigar Patel 9. Sutha Rangaswamy 10. Raj Devanagere 11. Mangesh Akerkar
One win away from another finals day - come on boys. Edinburgh South are a strong side so will need to be at our best. The level of performance shown in the two cup games against Musselburgh is what's needed.
Thanks to all those who made themselves available - if not in the final XI then please come along to watch, and/or have a net as these will be up following junior practice.
Cheers Tom

It just seems to be pick on the "fat " kid week doesn't it??!!!! Thanks for the words of encouragement Tom following on from Andy stating in the Match Report "Anand managed to hold on to the catch offered" !!!!! Good luck to the team for Thursday's game..... p.s : The "stalwarts" from Saturday night even suggested Tubs as a nickname!!!

I fully agree with Char, Tubby it is!
Don't complain Anand as you and the fellow "stalwarts" couldn't/wouldn't give me a nickname!

Inputting tubby into the random mufs nickname computer gets 'Kojak'. Lea hinted at a number of obvious or less obvious star wars ones... Over to the collective genius of the mufs collective.

I'm not getting involved in nickname generation on this thread, I'd only get myself in trouble...
I can, however, pass on the happy news that Murrayfield DAFS are off to their second Cow Corner finals day after a convincing home win over Edinburgh South at Roseburn last night. And it'll surprise no-one to know that it was a case of It's That Mangesh Again with the bat - although his dismissal for a sparkling 48 off 31 balls did bring his Cow Corner average down to something in the territory of 170...
Maggy was more than ably supported by Phil Rogers (33* in spite of an early injury), with valuable contributions also from Hubbs (15), Ankeet (14) and Jigar (a busy 16*).
Edinburgh South approached our total of 146 for 4 with a very positive attitude, as we knew they would, with Giany (23) and Syed (14) taking the score to 44 for 1 off 6, still up with the run rate, before outstanding spells by Raj D (4-0-9-2) and Anks (4-0-16-3) turned the game firmly in our favour, despite a handy 20 in the lower order from Vardhan. Wickets also for Adeel, Sutha and Tom and a good run out completed the picture, and Edinburgh South finished on 104 for 9.
Back to Craiglockhart/Myreside then on Sunday 9 August (weather permitting - hopefully it won't end up getting postponed to 2010...) to play either Peebles County or Drummond Trinity, the latter of whom we beat in our semi final back in April. Victory in that game would see us take on one of Fauldhouse, Marchmont or Leith FAB.
Scores on the doors:
MDCC 146 for 4 (20 overs; M.Akerkar 48, P.Rogers 33*) Ed South 104 for 9 (20 overs; R.Giany 23, V.Vardhan 20, A.Vora 3-16, R.Devanagere 2-9)
Well done all and here's hoping for more 20-20 silverware. Next cup game is this coming Monday against Marchmont in the PArks Trophy - more on that on a separate thread.
Cheers Tom
