Hi all MDCC 1s team to play Fauldhouse at Roseburn on Saturday. PLEASE be there by 12pm so we can have everything set up by 12.30 and get some fielding practice and warm-up done. Need to be more organised and get into a Saturday routine at Roseburn so we're not chasing our tails all day trying to get odd jobs done when we should be focussing 100% on the cricket. We're likely to have the nets/bowling machine set up in the morning so please get in touch if you'd like some dedicated practice before the game and we'll fix something up. Lacking the creative spark of some of our other captains (and that's putting it kindly - Anks's "postcode lottery" approach last week was bordering on certifiable...), I'm going to stick with the traditional "no particular order": 1. Tom Wheeler (c) 2. Ian Shiels (vc) 3. Paul Hubbard (wk) 4. Raja Sampath 5. Mangesh Akerkar 6. Jean-Pierre Cruz Rocha 7. Asif Mohammed 8. Phil Rogers 9. Luke Hayes 10. Raj Devanagere 11. Melvyn Clench Time to put it all together this week - bowling, catching, ground fielding and BATTING!!! A positive and mutually supportive attitude required by all if we're going to achieve this. Oh, and as is traditional in Divisions 1-4, we are entitled to bat for 50 whole overs if we want to - now there's an idea... Cheers, and good luck to all four teams. Tom

lightening does certainly seem to strike twice. My creative instincts have come up with another (although not so whackier) idea of posting the team (I myself am surprised about where they keep coming from!!!!!!) Team 2 to play West Lothian at Boghall at EH49 6AB (Linlithgow). The team in the order of their birth city is
Chris West (Aberdeen) Sivaram Sivasamy (Coimbatore) Suthakar Rangaswamy (Coimbatore) Phil Hawkins (Devizes) Heath Batwell (Johannesburg) Adam Scott (London) Ankeet Vora (Mumbai) Rajnish Singh (Patna) Rafic Settu (assumed to be Trichy) Danny Abraham (assumed to be Trivandram) Regan Black (Whakatane)
We meet at Murrayfield hotel at 11.30 am. Its a half hour drive to the ground from the Murrayfield. Adam can drive straight to the ground. See you all on Saturday and let’s keep batting for the 50 overs. Its no coincidence that the two games that we have won, we have batted for the 50 overs! Best of luck to all the teams.

Copied from ESCA message board - will do a proper report when I've got more time.
But in summary - Roseburn jinx broken!
Cheers Tom
Murrayfield DAFS 1st XI v Fauldhouse, 13 June 2009
MDCC 171 for 6 (40 overs): L.Hayes 67, I.Shiels 34, P.Hubbard 22*; J.Bailey 2-43
FVCC 161 for 8 (40 overs): D.Mulligan 41, D.W.Allan 28; R.Sampath 3-26, R.Devanagere 2-39)
Good competitive albeit rain-reduced game of cricket on a Roseburn pitch that stood up well to the heavy showers that came before and during the game. At 66 for 4 at the halfway mark and with a number of dangermen gone, it could perhaps have been more comfortable for the hosts, but characteristic Fauldhouse strokeplay and never-say-die attitude kept the game in the balance until the last over. Luke Hayes's classy 67 was probably the difference between the teams in the end.
MDCC 20 points, FVCC 9 points

Here is the 3s result from saturday's game.
Leith FAB 2 127 ao from 40.3 MUFS 129-2 from 25.5 overs
A victory by 8 wickets.
Bowling
V Sunki 7.3-4-10-2 P Leonard 7-1-13-2 H Collin 9-0-41-3 C Banks 4-1-9-1 A Reyaz 9-3-21-1 A Raza 4-0-24-0
Batting
R Beretta lbw 50 L Towns caught 25 S Dahiya 28* C Banks 2*
It was good to get back to winning ways. Finally our bowling returned with very few bad bowls being bowled. The one alarming aspect in the field that we still need to address is the number of extras being conceded which was 47 (34 wides).
Russell & Linsday batted very well to easily chase down the total.
Let's keep this going and look to finish off the first half of the season with two further victories.

with 3s bowling 34 wides and the 1s 33 wides an astonishing total of 67 wides in two games at roseburn on saturday.
Do our bowlers need a trip to specsavers?
