Fresh from last weekends excellent win at the MCG, Meadows Cricket Ground for the uneducated, the 4s take on Kismet 2s at Roseburn.
This Saturday sees the Heineken Cup final at Murrayfield so there will be parking restrictions and traffic disruption in the vicinity. I would strongly advise that where possible you do not bring your car to Roseburn or try and find some parking away from the stadium.
To that extent we are planning on a slightly earlier start so that hopefully we can finish while the rugby is on before the crowds start leaving. Therefore can everyone please be at Roseburn for 12 noon for a 12:30 start. This will also greatly assist our opponents who do not have the luxury of getting buses down from Dunfermline.
Game is on the GRASS wicket.
Team (in order of chirpability)
Chris Brown (c) Charlotte Bascombe (c + w) Neil Yelland Anand Ventatesh Owen Kelly Don Wilkie Irfan Mahmud Paul Leonard Chris Richardson Drew Barker Rob Fotheringham
Up the Mufs.

Congrats to 1s, 3s and 4s on their victories today.
Elsec, tempted by the rather good spectator teas for £1 no doubt, was at Carlton where the ones staged a remarkable recovery from 56-6 to overtaking Carlton's 142 with 2 balls to spare - skipper Tom and the two Rajs turning the batting performance round ans seeing us home.
3's details above
4's chasing 160 won by 6 wickets with 5 overs to spare thanks in the main to 96 not out from Anand Venkatesh. Good to also hear that the game experienced no problems from the 88,000 rugby crowd with huge cheers ringing round Roseburn Park when Fothers took a sharp slip catch off Anand. For the second game at Roseburn on the trot a streaker added to the atmosphere too!
The 2's had a tough day being bowled out for 65 but did make Dunikier work for the victory taking 5 wickets in return.
More details to follow from the respective games.

Murrayfield-DAFS 143-8 49.4 overs - Mohammed Asif 28, Tom Wheeler 27 not out, Raj Davanagere 25, Raja Sampath 15 not; Stevie Elder 3 wkts.

Congrats to all the three teams for some strong and some exciting wins. Alas we could not make it a grand slam.
After the high scoring game of last week, the two’s were brought down by some poor batting. Having won the toss, MUFS opted to bat first (to the surprise of opposition captain Richard Sorrell) on a pitch which was as soft as a refrigerated cake. The opposition strategy of starting with spinners on both ends took the top order by surprise. Anks played a very stupid shot in the very first over back to the bowler. Jaya was found lbw for 1. Chris West played as his watchful self before a nick was taken well by the keeper for 7. Danny stayed for some shots but then gave one straight to Point for 11. Some poor shot selection saw the middle order collapse with Siva bowled for 2, Sutha bowled for 2, Reyaz lbw for 6 and Kamath bowled for 0. Heath and Adam took the score beyond the 44 mark (which I believe is the lowest total for Mufs) before Heath got a screamer of the pitch and clipped the top of his off stump for 3. Rajnish played two good shots before getting caught at point of 12 which was the highest score in the team. Adam was not out for 9. The team folded for 62.
The bowling started with some very good pressure applied from both ends by Rajnish and Adam. The opposition were in a spot of botheration at 17 for 4 when Rajnish took two wickets of consecutive balls. Another wicket there and it could have been an open game. However the two batsmen watched the ball and waited for the loose balls (which were few) to work around. In the end the scoreline was too small to defend, and Dunnikier won by 5 wickets.
The bowling and fielding performance of MUFS however was better compared to the previous games and that is a positive sign. The batting is what did us in this weekend.

Total: 62/10 off 33.5 overs.
3 wickets for J Braid, 3 for Richard Sorrell, 2 for C Drysdale, 1 each for B Cutter and G Skene.
Bowling analysis for MUFS: Rajnish S. 10 – 4 – 15 – 3 Adam S. 9.4 – 3 – 20 – 2 Ankeet V. 4 – 1 – 7 – 0 R Kamath 4 – 0 – 16 – 0 Heath B 1 – 0 – 1 – 0 Sutha R 1 – 0 – 2 – 0

Some excellent photos of yesterday's 1s game on Carlton's website - look out in particular for a faultless forward defensive pose from Mr Belly. None shall pass. www.carltoncc.co.uk/TwosvDAFS09.htm(They seem to have missed the winning runs being scored though... ) Yours with a very sore head Tom

Scorecard from 1s game also on Carlton's website, which saves me a job at least: www.carltoncc.co.uk/Scorecards/CARLTON_2nd__MURRAYFIELD%20DAFS_23MAY09.pdfCouldn't resist a smile at one aspect of Carlton's otherwise excellent website - their match summaries are well written and everything, but they do tend to be a little bit one-eyed - not exactly teeming with detail about the MDAFS performance... "The third senior match on Saturday had no such happy ending as Carlton Twos lost a game they really should have won at home to Murrayfield DAFS. Batting first, Ben Duerden, Craig Marshall and Rob Thornton all got starts and were looking good before getting themselves out as the home side limped to 142 all out. However, a fiery start for Rob Thornton saw him pick up two wickets. A typically accurate spell from Steven Elder brought him three wickets and the visitors were reeling at 7 down and a long way to go. However, Carlton took their foot off the gas and the visitors eventually reached the target with two balls to spare." That pretty much covers it then...
