Brilliant news from Myreside !!!
Murrayfield-Dafs CC are the inaugural winners after beating Marchmont in the final !!!
I’m sure far more detail will follow but chasing 128 to win the opposition came up 23 short with only 1 wicket remaining. Mangesh scoring well both in the final and the semi.
And with the team posing for pics with their trophy, they received a celebratory dousing of champagne from the on looking Muffers.
Well done fellas !!!
(okay so it was only Bucks Fizz provided by Princess Charl but looked good.)

Hi All,
Cow Corner 20/20 Cup News was on the Todays Evening News paper :
Cricket: DAFS come up roses . .
Published Date: 29 April 2009 By GARY HEATLY MURRAYFIELD DAFS set themselves up for the East League cricket campaign which gets underway this Saturday when Mangesh Akerkar inspired them to victory in the Cow Corner finals day at Myreside. The Twenty20 event was carried over from 2008 and Akerkar hit 70 to rescue his team in the first semi-final against Drummond Trinity.
His runs took them to 111-5 from their innings and he then grabbed figures of 2-10 from his four overs with the ball as the opposition were restricted to 98-6.
Marchmont caused an upset in the other semi-final by seeing off Edinburgh Accies. An opening partnership of 55 between Sam Peachey and Aaron Sardesai set them up to score 130-6 from their 20 overs, Peachey scoring 51. Sardesai then starred with the ball, taking 3-20 as Accies were bowled out for 108.
In the final Akerkar again dominated the innings of Murrayfield DAFS with 66 not out in a total of 127-7. Marchmont started well in response with another good opening partnership, Sardesai scoring 32.
However, a combination of run-outs and catches slowed things down and they ended on 109-8. Raja Sampath was the pick of the bowlers with 3-12 as Murrayfield DAFS were crowned champions.
