Hello, it's Tom the Rain-Bringer again...
Final day of the season sees 1s travel to Fauldhouse. As noted on the website by Shielsy - who is fast becoming our own version of Carol Vorderman, albeit younger - a win would guarantee us 3rd place, and would give us an outside chance of 2nd or even 1st. Team as follows:
1. Tom Wheeler (c) 2. Ian "one from the top and any other five" Shiels (vc) 3. Paul Hubbard (wk) 4. Sutha Rangaswamy 5. Regan Black 6. Jean-Pierre Cruz Rocha 7. Mangesh Akerkar 8. Raj Sampath 9. Melvyn Clench 10. Adam Scott 11. Mohammed Asif (to confirm)
Transport arrangements will be confirmed later in the week - it may be that a few of us will need to get the train, but that's not a great hassle to be honest, it's a 45 minute trip from Waverley.
Best of luck to all teams this weekend for finishing the season on a high. And well done to all players, and especially my three fellow skippers, for keeping going and staying positive throughout an often frustrating, rain-marred season. Unless something very odd happens on Saturday, we'll have put out four full teams every week this season. For our first season as a merged club, that is no mean achievement, well done everybody.
Good luck all.
Tom

MUFS 2 game already off. Muirhouse too wet and no chance to be ready for tomorrow.
Best of luck, if any of the team manage to get the game.
Cheers Raj

1s off, unsurprisingly. Shielsy Vorderman tells me we're confirmed in 3rd place - a really good effort, and thanks to all for contributing towards it. Silver and bronze medals in the last two seasons - let's do a Henry Kelly in 2009 by going for gold.
(Sorry.)

Ahh nooo Tom - I was going to use that cheesy line about Mr Kelly and his classic eurozone game show.

Sorry Shielsy - great minds and all that...
If it's any consolation to you, I've paid my dues for that clunking joke - I've spent all afternoon with the Going for Gold theme tune stuck in my head, complete with mental images of grinning Scandinavians waving to camera. It's not a good place to be.

Pub?.... Should be up to Melv really as its his birthday. Someone text me and if I'm back from Stoke in time I'll drop in to wherever it is.

www.ukgameshows.com/page/index.php?title=Going_for_GoldAhh happy memories! Its amazing what an afternoon in the pub can do for you. Smiting will have to wait STuart - you can only do one at a time!! A real good effort from everyonbe involved this year in getting out four full teams for every game. That really is the mark of the way the club has developed. I think its fair to say that we have more players and better facilities than this time last year. Best wishes to all for 2009. Here's to "four in a row"
