Cow Corner Finals Day - POSTPONED AGAIN

Hi all

Squad for Cow Corner 20/20 semi-final and (hopefully) final this Sunday at Craiglockhart/Myreside will be posted here tomorrow once I've confirmed availability with a couple of people.

The semi-final is at 1pm against Drummond Trinity at Craiglockhart with the final at around 4.30pm on Myreside. If we make the final we meet either Edinburgh Accies or Marchmont.

Would be great to see as much Mufs support as possible on Sunday. Fingers crossed for major improvements in the weather...

Sorry all, finals day postponed due to rain, and lots of it. Rearranged for Sunday 24 August and being played on one pitch (probably Craiglockhart) so we may find ourselves playing our semi at 10.30am(!).

Further update:

Confirmed for Sunday 24 August with all games taking place at Myreside. Semis will take place at around 10.30am and 1.00pm respectively. Who plays first is likely to be decided by the toss of a coin and I'll update this thread once I know more.

We're going to be missing a few from our previously announced squad as a number of people can't make the revised date. So if you want to be considered for the finals day, even if you weren't named in the original squad, please get in touch - 0787 667 3320 or [e-mail].

Further update for you - following the (supervised) toss of a coin, we're on the early shift on Sunday - 10.30am start against Drummond Trinity at Myreside. If we win that we'll be in the final at 4ish.

On the plus side, if we can win our semi we'll have the advantage of a good rest before the final.

As you may have seen on the East League website, Cow Corner finals are postponed again, with Myreside underwater and with no prospect of recovery in time for Sunday.

Discussions are underway as to whether it gets rearranged in September - which could be problematic given various tours, play-offs and other commitments for the teams involved - or whether it becomes a curtain-raiser for the 2009 season. Once I hear anything I'll post it up here.

Thanks to all those who played in earlier rounds to help us get this far in the tournament. And thanks also to all those who've come along to support us along the way. Hopefully we'll see a good few of you at finals day - whether that's next month or next year...
