Another quite remarkable game over the weekend as MDAFS Sunday Daytrippers beat Bamburgh by 23 runs.
MDAFS batting first start well with Phil Yelland hitting a quickfire 33 opening (Irfan hit 5 batting at 2) and Melv Clench a steady 27 - elevated to number 3. Tom Wheeler hits 19 but then the wheels come off spectacularly as MDAFS lose 7 wickets for 5 runs (6 in 10 balls) to collapse to 96 all out - young off-spinner Taylor taking the 3 last wickets in 5 balls on a pitch that was indeed helpful to spin - as the bemused Belly discovered as he was the last man to go, castled by Taylor for 0. After Tom the book reads, Charlotte 5, Chris D run out 1, Asif 0, Reyaz 0, Belly 0, Lea Tsui 0, Neil Yelland not out 3 !! But fear not - suitably fired up and inspired by Skipper Bascombe, MDAFS fought like tigers (sort of). Despite a battling 18 from opener A Curran and 19 from B Wright, Bamburgh suffer their own collapse from 54-1 to end up on 73 after their allotted 40 overs. Spin again did the most damage as Tom took 4-12 off 8, Phil Yelly 2-14 off 8, also Melv took 1-5 off 6, Belly 2-8 off 7. Other bowlers Neil Y 3-1-8-0, Asif 8-5-11-0.
And at last a game actually finished at Bamburgh. Just the odd bit of fog to contend with.

This was really enjoyable game and went some way to reducing the disappointment of Saturday. Great location, good tea, friendly opposition and cracking banter in the field.
Body is feeling the effects of fielding today though...maybe I should have "fastened my seatbelt"! ;D
Pav's enjoyment rating: 10
Cheers

Actually a glaring omission from the mini report on Bamburgh is Pav's stonkingly good catch at midwicket... contender for catch of the season?
