Hi everyone,
here is the first team for Saturday's away game versus Freuchie 2nd XI.
1 - Tom Wheeler (Capt) 2 - Ian Shiels (Vice) 3 - Paul Hubbard (Wkt) 4 - Jean-Pierre Cruz Rocha 5 - Mangesh Akerkar 6 - Asif Mohammed 7 - Vimal D'Souza 8 - Raj Sampath 9 - Sutharkar Rangaswamy 10 - Rafic Settu 11 - Melvyn Clench
The meet is at 10:30am at the Murrayfield Hotel. Its a long drive to Freuchie so we need to be there nice and sharp to make sure we get there with time to spare (not like last year!)
Please confirm you are available as soon as you read this, either by email to melvynclench@hotmail.com or by text to 07870331861.
Also, I've decided to quit as captain. Its stopping me from playing my game, I'm not enjoying my time on the field and its putting me off cricket in general, which is a shame. Tom has agreed to step in and take over so he is the new 1st team skipper, starting from Saturday. I would like to thank him for relieving me of the burden and wish him the best of luck for the rest of the season. Now I hope I can get back to being a good bowler rather than being a mediocre captain.
All the best to everybody for Saturday.
Cheers, Melvyn

Update on the 4s game - SMRH cannot raise a team so the game is off. We are still short of players for the friendly game on Sunday at Berwick - let Tom Wheeler (07876673320) know if you are keen to play.
Cheers, Paul

Find it hard to believe that SMRH cannot raise a team for the game tomorrow - very disappointing.
We'll take the 20pts but would much rather play and win the points properly.
They are obviously running scared LOL

MUFS 3rd XI vs Broomhall at Roseburn.
MUFS 177 all out. Dazza 45, Jigar 33, Adeel 30.
Broomhall 107 all out. Chris Banks 3 wickets, Matt Boyd 2, Nadeem 1, Stuart 1, Adeel 1, Sid 1 and one run out.
We won the toss and batted first and at 30-3 after 10 overs it could have gone oh so horibly wrong until a good stand between Dazza and Chris Banks settled us down, then Sid and Dazza, then Jigar and Dazza kept going to pull us up to a decent looking total. Decent became winning courtesy of an excellent 30 from young Adeel at the end.
In reply Broomhall were 0-1 losing a wicket first ball of the 2nd over then lost wickets steadily throughout the chase. All the bowlers used caused enough problems and created enough pressure that Broomhall were always just behind the required rate, and whenever we got to the stage that a wicket was needed, we got one. Tony bowled excellently and was unlucky not to have a wicket to his name at the end. Fielding was excellent and contributed too to the pressure. A really great all round team performance.
Full details for fantasy cricket to follow.

Great stuff Mangesh!!! I love you.. (not in that way - but in a fantasy cricket type way)
The twos just need to combine the 2 elements now.. Bowling / fielding was excellent yesterday, batting was $X$$@#!! I'm sure the confidence boosting win is very close and will kick start the season.

Congrats to all for their performances yesterday. Dissappointing for the 2s, but a great performance from Raj. I think that's the first League Michelle for the season. Looking at the ESCA top performers, www.eastleague.org.uk/index.php?option=com_content&task=view&id=206&Itemid=122 Dazza and Sid are possibly on the board for the batting, while Bish was top of the Div 5 bowlers prior to this week. Tom Wheeler is also on the board for the top bowlers in Div 1. Well done to all - keep up the standards!

And I have a sneaking suspicion that Mangesh may just sneak on to the Div 1 batting board when it's next updated...

Well done to the 1sts and 3rds on good wins at the weekend. The 4ths got 20 points too so we are moving in the right direction and hopefully the 2nds won't be far behind.
Thanks are due to both Mel and Martin for their efforts before standing down as skippers - albeit for different reasons. Captaincy can be difficult and hopefully both Tom and Stuart will build on their good starts.
