Here is the 1st team for this Saturday's home game vs Carlton 2nd team at home at Muirhouse.

In no particular order:

Carlton are currently leading our division having played 4 and won 4 (including losing to Freuchie 2nd team but later being awarded the points due to ineligible Freuchie players).

However, we managed to beat them twice last season and our team is strong enough that there is no reason why we can't continue where we left off. Beating Carlton would haul us up the table and also bring Carlton back within reach of the chasing teams, exactly where we want them.

This is a big opportunity, lads. Let's decide where we want to finish this season. Do we want to be up at the business end of the table scrapping it out amongst the big names? I bloody do!

I believe it is Martin's last game as Skipper so lets have an extra big effort from the chaps to see him away with a win as a thanks for all the time he has put in for club business on and off the park.

A cracking game played hard, but in good spirits by both teams. I'd write more, but Wardy is bullying everyone into going out to toast his last game as captain and I need to iron a pink shirt.

Anyway the Ones were seeing red at Muirhouse as they squandered (again) a good position with the bat (100-1 off 28 overs) to finish on 190 (Mangesh Akerkar top scoring with 79, Ian Shiels 42, and Rafic a quickfire late 26). Carlton had been pegged back to 100 off 37 overs but had 7 wickets in hand (should have been less .. ahem) and accelerated well to score 94 in 12 overs as MDAFS bowlers struggled to get it in the right areas to stem the flow nor did the fielding reach the necessary consistent high standards for this Division. In the end they won by 5 wickets with 4 balls left.
