I played at the townhill ground in early June. The wicket is a shocker - anything over 75 is a good score. Dunnikier had them 12-7 after 20 oversish., all out for 40.
Bowl first young man, bowl first!!

Once again call-offs and caveats from members have made it a difficult week for the captains - so apologies for the late posting of the 3s.
With two players have had to be brought in at the last minute, please try and be as sure as possible when indicating availabily to the captains. Many thanks to all players for your flexibilty and patience.
MDCC 3 vs SMRH4 at Roseburn Grass Meet 12:45
Pitch Inspection News: Thanks to Prince and his interpreter for the humans for their early morning inspection, the match today is ON. However, the pitch is wet and thanks to Edinburgh Leisure's grass cutting policy there are huge piles of wet clumps of grass everywhere - therefore can a few of you please come as early as possible to help clear it up, thanks. Team news: Adeel and Scott are promoted to the twos, while a whole host of others from last week's spectacular 0.5 over romp have declared themselves unavailable. That enables us to welcome back some club stalwarts, who I thank for their patience and understanding after missing out in recent weeks.
So the team is: 1. Iain "Ricky" Martin Cptn 2. Nick Hill VC 3. Phil "The Original El Presidente" Yelland 4. Don "THE El Presidente" Wilkie 5. Tom "Hats Off" Wheeler 6. Andy "Keeper" Lacey 7. Neil "Coach" Yelland 8. Paul Leonard 9. Rob "Frothy" Fotheringham 10. "Sealion" Dion Piggott 11. Billy "Peaches" Sneddon

Just had a call from Kismet. Apparently their pitch is waterlogged, so 2s are yet again called off. Five weeks in a row...
1s at Muirhouse and 3s at Roseburn both on, though.
If we can get six in total for nets, we'll book something at Mary Erskine School.
Midweek games on Tuesday and Thursday next week, league on Saturday, and away to Oban on Sunday. Expecting good availability given how much cricket we've missed this season!

3s Result !!
3s lost to SMRH by 4 wickets. Posting 55 with extras top scorer, Paul Leonard 10, Andy Lacey 7 from 72 balls and Tom Wheeler 5 from 35, they came up maybe 35 short of a challenging total on a sticky wicket.
However the Mufs gave it a good show taking 6 wickets but still lost. Deon Pigot took 3, Paul 2 and Billy Sneddon 1.
High'light' was definately Rob chassing a ned who had stolen the ball across the outfield. Gamely encouraged by a few opposition batmen, Rob was catching him until the skinny little runt threatened to throw the ball at him from point blank range. However to the delight of the waathcing cricketers a passer by interjected with a flying rugby tackle in the shadows of Murrayfield.
Ned was downed and was later seen being beaten up by a some old ladies...hopefully.
Well done for the entertainment but try and make the gme last past 5:15 for the spectators.

If skipper Martin had won the toss the 3rds game would have been very different.
Full marks to the patient Andy Lacey, Billy Sneddon and Paul Leonard with the bat plus Yelland junior for a bit of audacity at the end.
Dion PIggott, Billy Sneddon and Paul Leonard all bowled really well and accurately although the pitch was significantly easier than it had been at 1.30pm. The fielding was also first class.
Highlight of the afternoon was the flying rugby tackle by the member of the public on the local who thought it was hard and funny to pinch the match ball. he had only narrowly eluded the flying Fotherham and one of the Stewarts Melville guys.
A good game played in good spiirit.
Thanks to Ali, Broon and Andy Piggott for their support.

Sadly not, Mel. The SRU Head Coach Frank Haddon could have used him. The guy headed off round the park pushing a pram with his girl friend.
