Just remember Melvyn's motivational words about the Cross!
And yes, come on 2s & 3s - time you joined the party - looking for big totals from both teams this weekend

So not to give HX any motivational material to work with (again) I'm saying nothing in connection with HX. Nope. Not a word. Otherwise Victor will tell me off. We'll let cricket do the talking on Saturday at the "MCG" marshland.

Division 1 at Muirhouse
Murrayfield-DAFS 1 (20) beat Holy Cross 1 (6) by 45 runs
MDCC 155-8 - Ben Higgins 58 and Ian Shiels 41 (yes you read that right) in vital 96 run 3rd wicket stand on a tricky surface. Mohamed Tayyab 3-45, Ian Astley 3-25 top wicket takers for Cross.
Holy Cross 110 all out - Charlie Ellis 23, Roland Dannreuther 26. Melvyn Clench with 10-4-26-4 including the "prize" scalp with the last ball of his allocation. Nasty was as tight as a gnats-chuff with 7.1 overs for just 5 runs. Scotty (6-0-22-2) bowled excellently in the final phase of the game to exert the killer pressure on Cross. Excellent outfielding (concentration levels kept up) and 3 run-outs achieved - some super stuff from Jey in the deep. Marvellous work chaps.

Actually just found this private message in my ESCA DF mailbox from Charlie....
"Ian,
I've been in touch with a printers who are prepared to give us a good deal on a 10 ft by 6 ft laminated poster to pin up in our dressing room at Muirhouse.
Could you make sure you post the right type of over-confident statement (no more than 25 words) on your website or message board by 12pm Weds at the latest (it'll cost double if he has to do it later than this).
ta
Charlie
p.s. by then we'll also have analysed the film taken of Mr Higgins by our man hidden behind the trees at Grange Loan... "
No comment necessary.... bar it's about time HX got their own website/DF for a proper war of words I say !!

MDCC 3 vs Edinburgh 3 2 June 2007 Weather: Sultry skies but warm Edinburgh 169 all out (43.4 overs) 20 points Simpson 9-2-24-2 Amjid 5.4-0-23-1 Pretorious 9-0-25-3 Collin 9-1-41-1 Modi 7-2-21-0 Leonard 4-0-22-3 catches: Hill 2; Pretorious 2; Amjid 1 MDCC 3 54 all out (6 points) Hill 0 Amjid 0 Pretorious 22 Taylor 2 Watson G. 7 Bascombe 0 Modi 6 Leonard 3 Wilkie 1 Simpson 0 Collin 0* Extras 13 Once again the luck deserted the third team with 4 catches spilled and other chances dropping just beyond players reaches. Tony Simpson's dismissal emphasised the lack of luck as the ball bounced off Tony into the air and on to his foot and then rolling onto the stump just dislodging the bail The bowling was fairly good with Martin the pick with an aggressive spell. Tony was his usual economical self and picked up 2 good wickets before Paul Leonard's left arm wobblers did for 3 of the Edinburgh lower order. The batting, Pretorious, apart was a disaster with 4 ducks and only one player in double figures. Only Martin shined with 22 including one straight driven 4 that almost removed the nonplaying, umpiring, skipper permanently - before I ended up on me arse just in time - I believe a comedy moment nomination from the assembled Mufters was suggested . After wards at the Murrayfield Hotel, we encountered Matty Boyd on BBQ duties fleecing £3.50 a time for a burger off the drunken Rugby 7s fans. Matty now has dyed Maroon hair - can someone please select him to play so I can relinquish the Barnet award? As the Glasgow Accies rugby boys were downing pints of lager with tomato sauce, salsa and mustard tops much to the displeasure of the bar staff, we departed to lick our wounds.
