Stirling University 128 a.o. (36 overs)
Murrayfield-Dafs 2 107 a.o. (29.3 overs)
Stirling University won by 21 runs.
MUFS 2s hosted Stirling University at Roseburn on 21 April.
Winning the toss, Mufs chose to bowl first on a relaid Roseburn wicket. Predictions of uneven bounce proved true, and Stirling University were bowled out for 128 (though the scoreboard showed 138!!) in 36 overs. The Mufs bowlers generally bowled well, particularly those who have been regular attendees at winter nets. I took 3-10, Ali 2-10, adn Akshay 2-34. Jigar Patel also kept very well, taking a very sharp catch standing to Ali.
Although a low total, a (very) slow outfield and difficult wicket made it competitive, and indeed the quality of the Stirling bowlers quickly took toll on the Mufs batting line up with only three men managing double figures. Newcomer Ram Boyapati scored a brutal 32 before being caught on the boundary, and Sasid was fluent in his 22 before being bowled off an inside edge. Mufs were dismissed for 107 in 30 overs to loose by 21 runs.
A total of 7 dropped catches - 3 off Tony - were telling, and may well have been the difference between winning a loosing.
Notable performer for the visitors was Baird's 43 (next top score 17), followed up by 9.3-1-32-6!!
