Message from cricket scotland:-
Dear All
With poor weather forecast for this coming Sunday, it would appear that it may well be difficult to complete the Scottish Cup 2nd Round/Lloyds Trophy 1st Round ties by means of a ‘normal’ game, as presently defined in the Competition rules. The Competitions Committee are keen that a result can be achieved without resorting to a bowl-out, if at all possible, and to this end they wish to make the following adjustments to the rules
* Where a match has started and, due to interruptions, there is no longer the opportunity for both sides to face the minimum of 20 overs, if time allows, the original match can be abandoned and a new match of 10 overs per side can be played. In such a match, a result can only be achieved if both sides have the opportunity to bat the full 10 overs. The number of overs in which the fielding placement restrictions will be in force will be 3, and no bowler can bowl more than 2 overs. * If no play is possible under the existing rules, the sides can choose to play a 10 overs per side game, as described above. It may be, for example, that they would be willing to play in the rain for the length of such a game. Obviously, such a game can only take place if the conditions are deemed not to be dangerous. * The start time of the game can be brought forward from 1.00pm if it is felt that this might afford the opportunity to play the game. Should this be done, the umpires will need to be informed of the new start time.
Under the existing rules, it is possible to play the match in midweek up to and including Wednesday 4th July and this might be an option that could be used. It is appreciated that this will only be practical where the opposing sides are in close proximity to one another.
If all else fails, the result of the game will have to be decided by means of a bowl-out.
Would the recipients of this email please let the umpires, who we have not been able to contact, know of this change to the rules for Sunday.
Many thanks

It utterly hosed it down around midday to make the wicket and artificial unplayable.... so we had the excitement of a bowl-out..... 5 bowlers with 2 balls each but we lost it by a country mile. Doh. Good luck to Irvine in next round.
