Mr Belly, I gather from Snicknote over on the ESCA board that IT does not always guarantee M-F 9-5, and that sometimes you have to work overtime. Maybe think about that one. There is always chartered accountancy/lion taming. Anywho, well done for getting this set up. Perhaps we should also have a Mufs Fotopic site, so we can all post our pictures from games... fotopic.net/

MGGW One has the power to delete unruly members etc but as ever responsible freedom of speech prevails.
Curious what the G and G stand for.

Hi all
In answer to the cheeky leopard, it doesn't feel like it - feels like we've played much better than last year, and in many other years our % would be enough to stay up.
However ... we are where we are, I don't think there's any genuine complaints and if we have fewer points than everyone else (bar Marchmont) then we deserve to go down.
Let's make the discussion academic by stuffing Glenrothes next Sat!

From the POV of the 2s, the crunch has not been the games we've won, but the very poor performances when we've lost. Lost to HC by 9 wickets, bowled out against PV for 30-odd. So we've just not been getting the bonus points, and that is why we results will have to be in our favour next Saturday to keep us out of the relgation zone.
Whether the 1s and 2s 'deserve' to stay up or go down is another issue. I'd say that we've got 20+ skilled, talented and experienced players worthy of Div 1 and 4 (which is not a criticism of the 3s, just they aren't in this predicament!). The problem has been getting them all out together, with a number of distractions in addition to the usual work and holiday interruptions.
I think we have to look at the work levels we are collectively putting in between Sunday and Friday, and ask - not could we do more - but what more can we do?
The turn out at nets has been very poor this season, with the people who do come arriving anytime between 1745 and 1930, and leaving anytime after 1900. Very few people stay from begining to end, making it hard to organise the nets and make the practise meaningful. We very rarely practise any fielding, even though this is more that 50% of the game, and dropped catches have cost us matches. And we could all work to try to improve our fitness!

The Vested Wonder has hit the nail on the head. Its not just a case of how many matches you win but how well you lose.
I think this is the main reason why the 3's have safely negoiated their way through Div 7 this year. When we have lost (barring the game v Cask at the Meadows) we have always picked up wickets or eeked out a few extra runs to get us to another bowling/batting point. Whilst they might not make prizes in this case they have ensured that we didn't slip back into Div 8.
As for the practice we do. Up until last night (3!) I thought attendance had been slightly better than last year. The comment that you don't know who will turn up when is a big problem and if we are to change our fortunes on the pitch then its something we need to sort out.

Good addition to the site - but to be useful we need to make sure we maintain separate threads for separate items. So if you wish to discuss why both 1s and 2s are in relegation trouble, how to improve attendance at and use of, nets, please start a new thread.
Cheers
